A reserved shabu-shabu dinner near Seongsu Station
After work, I had something to do in Seongsu, so I reserved Shabu in Seoul Seongsu, a popular Seongsu shabu-shabu spot, on Naver Booking ahead of dinner.

Seongsu-dong was seriously packed..😭 As you would expect from a pop-up hotspot, it was buzzing with people even on a weekday, so walking into a popular Seongsu restaurant without a reservation felt a little daunting.

Since I made a Naver Booking reservation, I could go straight in without waiting, which made dinner in busy Seongsu-dong so much easier.

The restaurant was generally neat, with decent space between tables. There were tables for four to six, so it looked suitable for an after-work gathering or company dinner, as well as a date.
There were three sauces—sesame, chili, and ponzu—so you can choose whichever suits your taste.

Cheongyang chili peppers and minced garlic were available too. Personally, the best combination was lots of minced garlic mixed into the sesame sauce.

How to order at Shabu in Seoul Seongsu
It was my first time at Shabu in Seoul Seongsu, so I read the instructions before ordering. On the tablet at the table, choose your meat ➡️ choose your broth ➡️ once you have finished the meat and vegetables, request your final course.

Once you choose a broth, the matching final course is included. Changing the broth costs an additional ₩10,000.

Wagyu ribeye and chuck flap in clear mushroom broth
I ordered the Black Nine Wagyu ribeye shabu set for ₩37,000 and the Prime Angus chuck flap shabu set for ₩31,000, choosing the 🍄🟫 clear mushroom broth.

With shabu-shabu, the meat is always what gets me excited first, so I loved being able to compare the Wagyu ribeye and Prime Angus chuck flap at once.

The Wagyu ribeye looked different from the moment it arrived. Just looking at it, it seemed like it would melt right away.

The chuck flap had a slightly chewier texture than the ribeye, with a nice bite to it.

One basic serving of vegetables was included, along with Vietnamese rice paper, which was great for wrapping the meat and vegetables. Switching from shabu-shabu to fresh wraps gave it a different feel, which was nice.
After checking out a few Seongsu-dong pop-ups, my energy was completely drained haha. Finally, time to start the shabu-shabu meal I had been waiting for! Naturally, Wagyu ribeye was up first~~!

Meat alone felt a little incomplete, so I added fresh shrimp meatballs for ₩10,000 too. There are lots of side dishes, and if you like shrimp, adding one like this seems like a good idea.
Cooked in the shabu-shabu broth, they let me enjoy the flavor of the broth too.

Finishing with kalguksu and egg porridge
For the finale, it had to be kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) 🍜 I added ₩2,000 kalguksu noodles to the broth left after the shabu-shabu.

After the meat and vegetables, the broth had taken on plenty of flavor, so having kalguksu made it feel like a truly complete meal 👍
Once I had finished the shabu-shabu, I requested the final course. Since I chose 🍄🟫 mushroom broth, they made egg porridge at the table.

At Shabu in Seoul Seongsu, the rice in the egg porridge might have been barley rice—it had such a satisfying crunchy bite, and I finished it all deliciously.

The prepared omija tea (five-flavor berry tea) after the meal was pleasantly tangy, just right for refreshing the palate.
