Thai restaurant by Hapjeong Station: A Set at Saeng Augustine

I was meeting a friend in Hapjeong and looking for somewhere to have dinner, so we made a reservation at Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch, a popular Thai restaurant near Hapjeong Station. We reserved for 7 PM. Hapjeong Station connects directly to Mecenatpolis, so it was handy that we could get there without going outside.

Straight from Hapjeong Station to Mecenatpolis

Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch is inside Mecenatpolis, so it was really convenient to reach by subway. From Hapjeong Station, head toward Exit 9 without going outside and you'll find a direct passage to Mecenatpolis Mall.

Go in that way and keep heading toward the central plaza, and Saeng Augustine is in the Food Street area. It would be convenient on rainy or bad-weather days too, since there's no need to go outside.

We had reserved for 7 PM, and when we went in, the interior was much bigger than I expected. Since we had a reservation, we could sit down right away. Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch has around 80 seats, plus rooms for 4, 6, and 12 people. We were just there for dinner as two friends, but the spacious setting made for a comfortable meal.

A Set with pu pad pong curry and king prawn pad thai

There were so many menu options that we debated what to get, then ordered the A Set. It came with two tod mun goong (Thai shrimp cakes), pu pad pong curry (Thai crab curry), rice, and king prawn pad thai for ₩59,000, down from the regular ₩63,000. You get to have Saeng Augustine's signature pu pad pong curry and pad thai together, so it seemed perfect when you don't feel like choosing individual dishes.

They also happened to be running a Stella draft beer event, so we ordered two glasses for ₩14,000 instead of ₩16,000.

The food came out incredibly quickly. Waiting a long time for food when you're hungry is hard, so I was very happy that there was barely any wait here. 👍

Pu pad pong curry that went well with rice

The pu pad pong curry went so well with the rice and curry sauce together. I can see why pu pad pong curry is what many people think of when they think of Saeng Augustine. I also liked that rice was included in the set, so we could dig right into it with the curry.

Gently spicy king prawn pad thai

And the king prawn pad thai! The pad thai was a little spicier than I expected. It wasn't very spicy, but it had a subtle kick that kept me reaching for more. 🤲

Having pu pad pong curry, then pad thai, and picking at the tod mun goong in between made for just the right combination. If you really can't choose just one dish, I think the A Set is a good option too.

The Stella draft beer we ordered went well with everything too. It came nicely chilled and was so good alongside the food; especially after the slightly spicy pad thai, a sip of draft beer was a great match.

Is it good for a Hapjeong Station gathering or date?

First of all, Saeng Augustine Hapjeong Branch was easy to reach from Hapjeong Station, and being inside Mecenatpolis made it an easy place to meet.

The restaurant was spacious and had separate rooms, so it looked like a good fit for get-togethers with friends, family meals, or larger groups. The information says drivers can receive 3 hours 30 minutes of free parking. You can use the Mecenatpolis underground parking lot, which could be a plus for anyone looking for a restaurant with parking in Hapjeong.

I was happy with the A Set, which let us have pu pad pong curry, king prawn pad thai, and tod mun goong all at once, and I also loved that the food came quickly so we didn't have to wait long.
