Chinese izakaya by Sindang Station: Set 1 for two, Lucky Dragon JCB

In short

Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang (럭키드래곤JCB 신당) is a Chinese-style izakaya with a Japanese-house feel near Exit 4 of Sindang Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Two diners shared Yantai kaoliang beer, lemon beer, tomato tsukemono (Japanese pickled tomato), Set 1 (chahan fried rice, chuka soba ramen and gyoza dumplings) and mapo tofu, and the mapo tofu was the standout. Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang is a good pick for a filling date night or dinner with friends in Sindang-dong.

How to get to Lucky Dragon from Sindang Station, and parking

Lucky Dragon is right by Sindang Station on Lines 2 and 6. Exit 4 is the closest, about a 2-minute walk! There's no parking lot of its own, so you'll need to use a nearby public one.

  • Seongdonggo Public Parking Lot (17 Toegye-ro 90-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul) / 340 m (5-minute walk)
  • Sindang Intersection Public Parking Lot (408 Toegye-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul) / 200 m (3-minute walk)

Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang exterior and interior

The building looks a bit like an old Japanese house, which was unusual! The motorbike parked out front added to the mood too, haha.

The inside is decorated in wood, and it honestly felt like being on a trip abroad. Sunlight came in and the room had a warm feel. There are tables for 2, 4 and 6, so with the 6-seaters, groups are totally doable!

You order from the Lucky Dragon menu by QR code! The food was varied, but the drink selection was really wide. I wanted to try lots of things, so even though there were only two of us, we ordered a lot, haha.

Lucky Dragon was running a Naver receipt review event: write a review and they serve a Hong Kong-style dessert, so it's worth joining in! And the two of us ordered a ridiculous amount, haha.

Cold water comes as the basic setting, and each table has some basic sauces on it!

How do the Yantai kaoliang beer and lemon beer taste?

Yantai kaoliang beer and lemon beer

Before ordering food at Lucky Dragon, we ordered a Yantai kaoliang beer (baijiu beer) and a lemon beer, haha. Super cold~! The Yantai kaoliang beer has a slight pineapple aroma, and the lemon beer was a little sweet 👍

Tomato tsukemono as an appetizer, half saved for dessert

When I ordered the tomato tsukemono (tomato pickles), I thought it was a dessert, but the staff told us to eat it first as an appetizer. It was refreshing and so good! I saved half to have as dessert too, haha.

Lucky Dragon Set 1: chahan, chuka soba and gyoza

The rest of our order all came out! It's Set 1: chahan (fried rice) + chuka soba (Chinese-style noodle soup) + yakigyoza (pan-fried dumplings). Seeing it all together, it feels like we ordered a ton... haha. Even though I'd come from the future, I cleaned every plate! 🤣

Basic chahan (fried rice)

This is the basic chahan from Set 1! Each grain of rice was nicely coated, so the texture was great 👏 The egg and scallion aroma were good too! And the seasoned namul (vegetable side dish) that came with it was salty and so tasty that I finished that as well, haha.

Extra-ordered Lucky Dragon mapo tofu

Lucky Dragon mapo tofu: worth ordering on its own?

This is the mapo tofu we ordered separately, outside the set! It is so delicious~~~! Totally recommend!

Mapo tofu with soft tofu
Mapo tofu mixed into rice

The tofu in the mapo tofu is super soft and silky, and the sauce is especially amazing! Mixed into rice, it was unbelievably good! The portion was quite big, but we finished every bit~ Lucky Dragon's mapo tofu, I seriously give it credit! I want it again 🥹

Lucky Dragon Set 1 chuka soba
Clear chicken broth chuka soba with chashu
Chuka soba noodles and egg

Chuka soba in clear chicken broth

This is Lucky Dragon's chuka soba! You can taste the depth of a clear chicken broth, the original of Japanese ramen. The chashu (braised pork slices) was nicely grilled, and the finely chopped onion on top of the broth made the texture pop~ Every spoonful of broth had a lovely crunch! The noodles had an egg-noodle(?) texture, which I liked~ And they didn't get soggy until I finished! The egg was cooked perfectly too!

Lucky Dragon Set 1 gyoza

Age gyoza (fried dumplings)

The age gyoza (fried dumplings) were crispy outside and juicy inside. They also had a slight bread-like fluffiness~ Good!

Would I go back to Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang?

Eating the last pieces of tomato tsukemono I'd saved left my mouth feeling fresh and clean~ Total refresh vibes, haha. It was really tasty and I ate until I was full~! If I come to Sindang-dong again, I want to come back! Especially for the mapo tofu 👏

If you're coming to Sindang-dong with friends or on a date and want something delicious, go to Lucky Dragon Sindang, gogo~
