Conveyor-belt sushi at Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch

Hope everyone had a great Chuseok holiday! I went on a trip to my in-laws this time. We happened to pass through Seosan on the way, and while looking for something to eat, I stopped at Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch. Mikado Sushi is already a pretty famous conveyor-belt sushi chain and somewhere I go to eat sometimes, and this branch has every plate at a flat ₩2,100, so I figured it'd be easy to pick a bit of everything without worrying about the bill.

Where Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch is, and what it looks like

Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch is located in Seongnim-dong, Seosan, Chungnam. When I got there, the place was bigger than I expected. The big "premium conveyor-belt sushi" sign out front made it easy to spot too.

Is there a wait at Mikado Sushi in the early evening?

How long the wait for a seat took

Even though we went for an early dinner, there were already people waiting when we arrived, so we had a bit of a wait before getting in! Once inside, sure enough the place was almost completely full. We'd just stopped by casually on our road trip, but it turns out this is a popular sushi spot in Seosan too.

Inside Mikado Sushi: the room and the conveyor rail

Inside, seats run along the conveyor rail, and the place felt clean overall with a good number of seats. Best of all, the rail was constantly packed full of sushi, so it was fun just watching it go by the second we sat down.

Soy sauce and tableware were already set out on the table, and miso soup and water came in thermoses so you could pour as much as you wanted yourself! Having a warm sip of miso soup between bites of sushi hit the spot.

Ordering sushi that isn't on the rail with an order slip

One thing that really matters at conveyor-belt sushi places is what happens when the thing you want isn't on the rail, right? At Mikado Sushi, if you don't see the sushi you want going by, you can write it on an order slip and order it separately. There was a good variety of menu items too, so it was easy to pick while looking at the photos, and we ended up separately ordering the things we were craving.

The sushi we ate at Mikado Sushi that evening

That day we picked up salmon, shrimp, beef tartare, gunkan and whatever else caught our eye, and before we knew it the plates had piled up haha. It's already great being able to grab whatever you want right away with conveyor-belt sushi, but the sheer variety of sushi types here made it fun to try a bit of everything.

The best plate: sweet shrimp ankimo (monkfish liver)

And the best thing I ate that day was the sweet shrimp ankimo (monkfish liver)! Soft, sweet shrimp topped with rich, silky ankimo made for a flavor combo that really came together in the mouth. I couldn't stop at one plate, so I ended up reordering it several times lol. Out of everything I ate that day, it was hands down my number one favorite. And the brisket aged kimchi was seriously good too!! The meat was piled on so generously that I loved it lol.

Flat 2,100 won a plate — is Mikado Sushi worth a return trip?

Another plus of Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch is that every plate is a flat ₩2,100, so you can just pick whatever sushi you feel like without doing price math in your head. We stopped by on a whim during a road trip, but I could tell exactly why the place was packed from the waiting area all the way inside.

There was a wide variety of sushi, and anything not on the rail could be ordered right away, so we left stuffed and satisfied. If you're looking for a good sushi spot in Seosan or a conveyor-belt sushi place in Seongnim-dong, Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch is worth trying for yourself :)
