Mangpo Station café with bear matcha einspänner & cheesecake: Hongrad

Hi, it's Charley! I went to visit Hongrad Mangpo Station Branch, a great-atmosphere café near Mangpo Station. Hongrad is a Suwon café brand I've always liked and used to visit often at the Ingye branch, but I only just found out they opened a Mangpo Station location too! Let me start my recommendation review haha.

Location and parking at Hongrad Mangpo Station Branch

Hongrad Mangpo Station Branch is located on the 4th floor of the NongHyup building between exits 7 and 8 of Mangpo Station. There's an elevator to the right of the parking lot at the back of the building.

There's a small parking area on the 1st floor of the building, but you can't park there! No on-site parking is available if you drive, so please note you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot when visiting~

Get off the elevator and Hongrad is right there! Hours are daily from 10am to 11pm, so I'd also recommend it to anyone looking for a café that stays open late after dinner haha.

Atmosphere and seating: from solo seats to group seating for 14

Walking inside Hongrad Mangpo Station Branch, I was greeted by a spacious, pleasant room~ Overall it wasn't loud, with people either chatting quietly or working on laptops.

Being on the 4th floor with floor-to-ceiling windows, the sense of openness was really great haha. Most seats are sofas or cushioned chairs, so it's comfortable to stay a long time. They had everything from solo seats good for laptop work to group seating for up to 14 people.

The interior was also nicely decorated in a cute way, with various knick-knacks and items for sale, so it was fun just to look around!

There's also a variety of coffees, einspänners, and teas, plus delicious-looking desserts like toast, brownies, cakes, and croffles~ I ordered an iced americano, the bear matcha einspänner, and the Basque cheesecake haha.

They give you a cute pin badge for writing a Naver receipt review. One drink per person is required, no outside food is allowed, and store display items are look-only! Also note the wifi password.

Ta-da~ my order came out: iced americano, bear matcha einspänner, and Basque cheesecake. The tray color, the drinks, and the dessert visuals were all so pretty it made me want to take photos haha.

Iced Americano ₩5,500

When ordering dessert, I always order an americano to balance sweet with bitter, but at other independent cafés the cup size and quantity are always small and never enough. Hongrad's cup size is big from the start! I sipped it freely all the way through finishing my dessert without worrying about running out.

Bear Matcha Einspänner ₩7,000

This is the bear matcha einspänner my companion ordered. I wondered why it's called "bear," but they drew a bear face and bear paw print on it, so the visual was totally adorable haha. It's non-coffee, which was a little disappointing, but the smooth cream with matcha flavor was so good they finished it in no time~

Basque Cheesecake ₩7,500

Honestly, at first I was a little disappointed because it looked small. But after tasting it, it had a dense, rich cheesecake flavor, so it was a satisfying item. The whipped cream on top was also really delicious.

Would I go back? Final thoughts

Hongrad Mangpo Station Branch, a great-atmosphere café near Mangpo Station. To think Hongrad, a Suwon café I already liked, opened a location at Mangpo Station too! It's a good place for laptop work, so I think I'll be visiting often going forward. Recommended haha.
