Yeongdeungpo Korean BBQ: basil ssamjang & yeolmu noodles at Gamgol

Gamgol Yeontan-jip Seonyudo Station Branch is a retro coal-briquette Korean BBQ restaurant on Seonyu-ro in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, between Seonyudo Station and Dangsan Station. At Gamgol Yeontan-jip the writer ate rock-salt pork belly and special pork neck with basil ssamjang (dipping paste), gochujang briquette bulgogi, shrimp steamed egg, the summer-only yeolmu kimchi noodles (cold noodles in young radish kimchi broth), plus grilled jwipo (dried filefish) and plum slush. With quality Korean pork, scallion kimchi and a thoughtfully kept restroom, Gamgol Yeontan-jip is an easy recommendation for both dates and company dinners.

Warehouse thriller escape room in Hongdae: Deliver at Cube Escape

Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is an escape room café on the 4th floor of a building near Exit 9 of Hongik Univ. Station in Mapo, Seoul. The writer, who scares easily, took on Cube Escape's thriller theme Deliver, a story about a high-paying delivery job rated difficulty 4 and fear 3.5, with a weekday escape-room friend for 45,000 won for 2, and failed to escape even after using 4 hints. Deliver is a lock-heavy room where every prop matters, a well-made theme worth coming back to even after a loss.
