Busan pork barbecue with pot rice: Geobugi Dongne

At Geobugi Dongne (거북이동네) Busan Namcheon Branch near Namcheon Station, two of us had aged pork belly, pork neck, pot rice, and jjolmyeon (chewy wheat noodles). We could pair the meat with a substantial meal, and the spacious seating and self-service bar stood out.

Is it close to Namcheon Station, and is the seating comfortable?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 414 Suyeong-ro, Suyeong-gu, Busan, right near Exit 1 of Namcheon Station. It was easy to reach by public transit. The original post lists its hours as 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM daily, with last orders at 9:30 PM.

All seats were sofa seats, and the tables felt fairly spacious. I thought it could work well for a family meal or a gathering with several people.

Even though I visited after 8 PM on a weekday, customers kept coming in. I thought there could be a wait during busy weekend hours. The air conditioning was cool when I visited, so the meal was comfortable.

How much are the meats and the separate table setting fee?

The original post lists pork belly and pork neck at ₩5,990 per 100 g. The couple set was ₩32,500 for 500 g, and the family set was ₩52,000 for 800 g. However, the per-unit meat price differs from the amounts in the order details below, so this needs confirmation.

There was a separate ₩5,000 table setting fee per table. It is worth factoring this in rather than budgeting only for the meat.

What can you get from the self-service bar?

Basic side dishes and vegetables were available for self-service. There were pickled radish wraps, rinsed aged kimchi, bracken fern, and more, all neatly replenished even late in the evening. I liked being able to take more as needed.

What did two people order, and how was the meat portion?

Because it was late and we were hungry, we ordered meat along with a meal and drinks. The original post lists the following order:

• Aged pork neck, 3 portions: ₩16,470
• Freshly cooked pot rice: ₩4,000
• Large spicy vegetable jjolmyeon: ₩11,000
• Draft beer: ₩3,500
• Soft drink: ₩2,000

The drinks arrived first. The draft beer came in a cute glass and was easy to enjoy alongside the meal.

After bringing vegetables and basic side dishes from the self-service bar, the table looked quite full. At first, the three pieces of pork neck and two pieces of pork belly seemed less than I expected.

Once grilled, though, the meat was thick and felt like quite a lot. It was juicy too, which made the meat satisfying to eat.

How were the jjolmyeon and pot rice with the meat?

The large spicy vegetable jjolmyeon was sweet and tangy, and it went well with the meat. There was a generous amount, so I thought it would be fine to share among three or four people or more.

Rice was only served as pot rice. It took about 15 minutes to arrive after ordering, so a staff member advised us to order it together with the meat. The freshly cooked rice was fluffy, and we could also have nurungji (scorched rice) afterward.

I alternated the meat with salt and wasabi, among other accompaniments. Wrapping it with fresh vegetables from the self-service bar was good too.

On the way out, we were also given ice cream as a complimentary service.

Where can you park if you drive?

There is no on-site parking. You can use a nearby paid parking lot; the original post stated that nearby parking cost about ₩3,000 per hour.
