Gwangju Italian restaurant family set with rosé pasta: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch is an Italian restaurant in Seo-gu, Gwangju, with a vintage Italian hotel concept and brunch. The Family Set brought together pumpkin soup, shrimp rosé pasta, kung pao chicken pilaf, and arugula prosciutto pizza. Verdict: a great set for sharing a variety of dishes.

Vintage hotel-inspired brunch in Sangmu District
I was looking for a lovely brunch spot in Sangmu District and finally made it here :) This is Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, famous for its Italian vintage hotel concept! I thoroughly enjoyed the Family Set.
It is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with a break from 16:00 to 16:30. Last orders are at 21:00.

You can use Bueokgan's dedicated parking lot; if it is full, use the Mudeung Church parking lot.

Even the exterior is something else. It felt like stepping into a street café somewhere in Europe, haha. There is a terrace too, so on a nice day it would be perfect to sit outside and enjoy brunch at a relaxed pace.

The space was designed around the concept of a vintage Italian classic hotel, inspired by the Titanic ballroom. The moment I walked in, the elegant, classic atmosphere layered with vintage charm made it so fun to look around every corner.

The exotic atmosphere, like walking into an old European hotel, makes the meal feel even more special. You could take a hundred photos here.

What I tried in the Family Set
Sweet, velvety pumpkin soup
The warm soup looked special from the start. It was full of sweet, velvety pumpkin soup.

Napa cabbage Caesar salad

It was generously loaded with fresh vegetables, so it was great to have between bites of the main dishes 🌿

The bright dressing refreshed my palate, and it paired beautifully with richer dishes such as the pasta and pizza :)

Shrimp rosé pasta

The shrimp were really big and plump, with a lovely texture that worked so well with the sauce 😋 The rosé sauce was rich, smooth, and nutty without feeling heavy, with less of the sharp tang of tomato sauce. The pasta was cooked just right too—it felt like I was having truly delicious pasta for the first time in a while.

Wow, the blessing of food never ends.

Kung pao chicken pilaf

What is going on with that huge chicken leg? I love you. This chicken pilaf is made with Chinese-style kung pao sauce. The sweet and spicy sauce with the pilaf was seriously delicious. Eating it between the pasta and pizza gave me a different flavor each time, so I never got tired of it and happily finished every bite ✨

Arugula prosciutto pizza
This is a light pizza generously topped with arugula and prosciutto 🍕 Every bite brings together the fresh fragrance of arugula and the savory saltiness of prosciutto. The toppings were abundant, so it stayed satisfying to the last slice. It was not overwhelming and had a clean flavor, making it perfect alongside the other dishes :)

Visit with a group and enjoy a set
Ordering a set was so nice because we could enjoy a range of dishes at once. Seeing the table completely filled with food made the meal even more satisfying 😍 If you are visiting with a group, I recommend ordering a set so you can try a little of everything :)
