Paju café with homemade mango jam on fresh mango bingsu: Fruit Forest

Bingsu (shaved ice dessert) cravings hit hard these hot days! I never used to love bingsu much, honestly, but lately I've been eating it all the time haha. In the middle of all that, my husband took a day off and we headed to Paju, so I got to enjoy a really good mango bingsu while we were there! Here's my review of Fruit Forest, a Paju bingsu spot near Simhaksan famous for its mango bingsu — let's go!

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a café on Dolgoji-gil in Paju, near Simhaksan. Parking is available right in front of the store.

A café I came looking for near Simhaksan! "Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store" There's a famous ssambap (lettuce-wrap rice) place nearby, and even a spot recently opened by Lim Sung-keun that caught my eye?.? Kind of curious, but we were here for dessert~~

Up to the second floor, where the whole café smells of ripe fruit

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is up a flight of stairs on the second floor. The fruity smell hits you the moment you start climbing.

Climbing the stairs to the second floor, the fruit smell is so strong. The whole café smells sweet with fruit lolol 🍋🍎🍌🍉🍊🍑

The seats look out on a lush green view, and even on a weekday lunch hour, a lot of people were eating bingsu here. This really is a Paju bingsu hotspot...! lol

A good fruit bingsu place is all about the fruit, right?.? At a glance, the store was packed with obviously top-quality fruit.

And this place is especially known for its mango bingsu!! Nicely ripening away right now 🥭🥭 mango, my absolute favorite fruit — I wish it were all mine.... hahaha. They also sell the mangoes separately!

Bingsu at Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store runs 32,000 won for the fresh mango snow bingsu, with the rest of the snow bingsu at 28,000 won. What to order in a place packed with fruit?.?

I ordered the mango bingsu and it took a little while to come out. Once I saw how it looked, I understood why..?

Fresh mango snow bingsu: not frozen, and served with homemade mango jam

Fruit Forest's fresh mango snow bingsu is piled high with well-ripened fresh mango and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The homemade mango jam (mango syrup) served alongside is great to add in bit by bit as you eat.

That view of well-ripened fresh mango piled on top.. yes, this is it.. I wanted actual fresh mango, not the frozen stuff I get at other places!! Plus a single scoop of vanilla ice cream on top 🍨🍨

Just look at that... I'm not sure exactly how many mango pieces went in, but the portion is no joke.... My first successful fresh mango bingsu of the year ✌️✌️

There's mango jam?.? or mango syrup?.? served alongside, and that too has serious homemade flavor. Sweet yet tangy — definitely good to keep adding in as you eat 👏👏

As I scoop it up, mango keeps tumbling off lol. Gotta eat carefully and slowly 🫣

So good... the ripeness of this mango is insane. The sweetness was pushed all the way up, and that distinct mango aroma was wonderful.

And the ice — it's the milk ice used in snow bingsu haha. Soft, melts in your mouth, nutty milk ice — round of applause 👏👏👏👏

There are layers of mango syrup underneath, so even after finishing the mango on top, the flavor never gets boring!

Eating vanilla ice cream, milk ice, and mango all together — how good could that possibly be?~~ Perfect as dessert after a meal. Might come with a small blood sugar spike though! lol

Adding the mango syrup in between bites too~~ but it was already so sweet that it was plenty delicious even without it. Apparently the owner goes to the wholesale market every single morning to hand-pick the fruit.. no wonder the quality is next-level.

Coming with a dog? Terrace seats only

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is listed as pet-friendly, but pets aren't allowed inside the store — only on the terrace seats.

It says pets are allowed, but only on the terrace, not inside the store, so keep that in mind! A lot of people bring their pups around Paju, so once the weather warms up a bit more this should be even nicer haha.

Mango bingsu is great, but they also make bingsu with peach, melon, and fig — whatever seasonal fruit is at its best at the time! If you love mango, you'll really love this place haha. Parking is convenient too, and there's a Lotte Outlet and Simhaksan nearby, so it's worth stopping by while you're in the area.
