Why a three-generation family went for an eel buffet in a heatwave
We took my parents and our little one to Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel, Busan Dongnae Branch (송림복장어 민물장어 무한리필 부산동래점) and ate domestic eel and pork belly, all-you-can-eat. Here in Busan the news was calling it the worst heatwave in 122 years, and it's the kind of season that wears you out. Daytime highs were close to 40 degrees, and even when you have no appetite, you have to eat well to get through this heat! So the whole family went for some stamina food haha. My kid doesn't really eat eel, but don't worry! Songnim Bok Jangeo's Dongnae branch also has unlimited pork belly and chicken neck meat, so adults and kids can enjoy it together 👍🏻

How to get to Songnim Bok Jangeo Dongnae, and where to park?
There's no parking in front of the restaurant, so you'll need a nearby paid parking lot. By public transport, the closest station is Wondong Station (Donghae Line), Exit 1, about a 10-minute walk ✔️ I took bus 506 from Dongnae Station and got off at Anrak SK 2nd Apartments! From there it's just a 1-minute walk ✔️
It's right by the road with a big sign, so it should be easy to find! I had read that they bring in live eel every morning from the farm and the direct-sales market and prepare it the same day, and the sign says so too! That made me feel I could trust it! Unlike other buffets that thaw frozen eel, this one gets extra points for trust!
Is it OK for group gatherings or company dinners?
The inside of Songnim Bok Jangeo's Dongnae branch feels clean and open. There are quite a lot of tables all the way to the back, so it's a comfortable place for group gatherings or company dinners too.
What's at the self-bar?
There's a self-bar in the middle of the restaurant with all kinds of side dishes, sauces, small plates, and also the prepared eel, pork belly and chicken neck meat, so you can take as much extra as you need! The self-bar was clean and tidy, and the owner kept straightening it up and refilling it whenever there was a free moment!

The freshwater eel buffet at Songnim Bok Jangeo's Dongnae branch is ₩29,900 per adult. Can you see the all-you-can-eat price?? There is a table setting fee, though! It's ₩3,000 per person, and I think they charge it from elementary school age. Our kid is only 5 (preschool), so we skipped it! Being an eel place, they sell bokbunja wine (Korean black raspberry wine) too, and right now as an event you get a bottle of Sejong Bokbunja (₩9,000) for free! Go quick ㅠㅠ!!

For not much money, the whole family got a hearty, stamina-boosting meal of fresh freshwater eel without feeling self-conscious haha. First they bring out one tray with eel, pork belly and chicken neck meat, and after you finish it, you can bring as much as you like from the self-bar and grill it yourself!
Free bokbunja wine, boiled water and other small details
We all had our first glass with the bokbunja wine they gave us as a service! And the water isn't just from a purifier or bottled, it's boiled water served in a stainless steel bottle, which made me like it even more. It was so nutty and refreshing, just my taste. Even the water is top-notch ♥
Can kids who don't eat eel come along too?
At Songnim Bok Jangeo's Dongnae branch you can have pork belly and chicken neck meat along with the eel, so you never get sick of eating only eel. So the food just keeps going in.. haha. Put a slice of ginger and some garlic in a lettuce wrap, take a bite, and you feel the energy surge.
My daughter polished off pork belly and a whole bowl of rice! I gave her a piece of eel too, but it seems it's not yet to her taste. For a kindergartner's palate >.< haha
