Mangwon bakery 10am baguettes, brioche loaf: Boulangerie Copain
In short
Boulangerie Copain is a bakery on Huiujeong-ro in Mangwon-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, reportedly featured on the Korean TV show Master of Living (Saenghwarui Dalin) for its baguettes and croissants. On a first visit, the writer took home a brioche loaf, a chestnut loaf, melon cream bread and angbutter (red bean and butter bread), and was especially happy with the generously filled angbutter and the brioche loaf, which tastes good without any spread. Boulangerie Copain is a worthwhile Mangwon bakery stop, especially if you know that baguettes come out at 10am and the time sale starts at 7pm every day.

I love Mangwon cafés and I love doing a Mangwon bakery crawl! Today I finally visited a Mangwon bakery I'd been curious about for a while.

And it's Boulangerie Copain (블랑제리코팡)!

When do the baguettes come out at Boulangerie Copain, and how do you buy one?
The baguettes at Boulangerie Copain come out at 10am, and if you want one you just ask the staff. This Mangwon bakery was on Master of Living (생활의 달인, a Korean TV show about master craftspeople) as a baguette and croissant master.

If you want a baguette, just ask the staff.

Since Boulangerie Copain is famous for its baguettes, they even post the baguette time separately! Baguettes come out at 10am, so keep that in mind when you visit~~

There's a huge range, from loaves to dessert breads to baked sweets, so I took my time looking around to decide what to get! Let me walk you through the menu for anyone who's curious.

What does the angbutter at Boulangerie Copain taste like?
The angbutter (red bean and butter bread) at Boulangerie Copain is really hefty and packed with red bean. I love angbutter, so I put it on my tray without a second thought! It was my first visit and I'd checked reviews to see which breads were good, and lots of them said the angbutter was great, so I was looking forward to it. I ate it at home and sure enough, it was full of red bean and so, so good.

What breads does Boulangerie Copain have?
Baked sweets and dessert breads
- Lemon cake
- Financier
- Fig financier
Boulangerie Copain doesn't only have meal breads; there are plenty of baked sweets and dessert breads too, so everyone can pick something to their taste!

Ham and cheese baguette sandwich
Since this is the place that got on Master of Living for its baguettes, I think you can trust anything made with the baguette~~

Blueberry croissant and injeolmi (roasted soybean rice cake) croissant
If you like cream-filled bread, I think you'd enjoy the blueberry and injeolmi croissants too!

Jalapeño danish and tomato olive danish
Tomato and olive is always a good combo, so next time I visit Boulangerie Copain I have to try the tomato olive danish!!
Cheese sausage croissant and garlic cheese ball
The garlic cheese ball looks really good too!!

Raspberry almond croissant and pain suisse
Raspberry and almond, what a combo!! And Boulangerie Copain is famous for its croissants too, so now I want that raspberry almond croissant with a glass of cold milk haha

Kouign-amann, honey toast and melon cream bread
The melon cream bread at Boulangerie Copain is stuffed with cream and really hefty. My husband loves melon cream bread, so I picked one up for him! I was carrying the bread around during the day, so I put it in the freezer for a bit before eating, and the chilled melon cream was seriously delicious.

Sliced brioche and brioche loaf
Boulangerie Copain is also known for its brioche loaf, I found out! I was still browsing when someone who looked like a regular went straight for the brioche loaf, so I put one on my tray right away too. I ate it at home, and the flavor of the bread itself was so good that it was delicious even without any spread!

Other breads on display
Mini brioche, chestnut loaf

Croissant

What about slicing and the time sale at Boulangerie Copain?
