Autumn terrace seats at a Sinnonhyeon dessert café: Something About
In short
Something About Coffee is a large three-floor dessert café in Gangnam, Seoul, 314m from exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station in the alley behind the Gangnam Station CGV. On a clear autumn day the visit covered four items for ₩30,000 in total — americano, black sesame latte, egg cookie and black sesame fig cheesecake — with the black sesame cream latte, espresso sitting under the cream, and the soft black sesame fig cheesecake standing out. With outdoor terraces on the 2nd and 3rd floors, Something About Coffee is an easy place to sit on a cool day.

It was a sunny autumn day — the sky was high and clear without a single cloud. I was strolling around Gangnam Station when I spotted a café and walked in. It's a white café that looks big and grand, a coffee shop I'd recommend near Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon Stations.

Where is Something About Coffee, and what are the hours?
- Location: 30 Gangnam-daero102-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, 1st-3rd floors
- Hours: Daily 11:00–22:30 (dine-in until 22:00)

This place I'm recommending, Something About Coffee, makes handmade desserts with premium ingredients and sits 314m from exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station, where line 9 and the Sinbundang line meet. It's also in the alley behind the Gangnam Station CGV. The area is always busy with food, sights, shopping, academies and offices no matter when you drop by. The desserts use French gourmet butter, French chocolate, Guérande salt, Finnish cream cheese, 100% dairy fresh cream, and French black tea leaves with 100% almonds, so they're excellent in taste, looks, and quality.

Inside Something About Coffee, floor by floor
The space starting from the 1st floor is very spacious and full of antique charm.
The white walls lift the mood even more, and the chandeliers and fancy lights do their part too.
The counter is on the 2nd floor. That's where the desserts are, where you order and pick up your drinks, and later where you return your dishes. As is typical for this kind of café, everything is self-service — you order, pay, and the staff prepare the food.

How do you choose and order dessert here?
Beautiful flowers, desserts, and plates are arranged stylishly. After choosing your dessert, you carry it to the counter, order a drink along with it, leave the pastry at the counter, and pick it up later together with your drink.

When the buzzer goes off, you go grab it. Browsing the desserts is genuinely fun.

There's a wide range of desserts, all with a beautiful, modern sense of design.

You return the tongs to the counter after using them. You pick whatever you like onto a plate, and pay together when you order your drink.

Some desserts sit on regular tables and others are in the display case — the ones on the tables are mostly baked-goods style.

What's in the display case is mostly cakes, since they need refrigeration for the fresh cream and various creams.

Cheesecakes and signature drinks at Something About Coffee
From black sesame fig cheesecake to omero matcha cheesecake, pistachio cheesecake, walnut-dried-persimmon cheesecake, mont blanc cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake — all kinds of cheesecakes on display.

On the signature cream latte menu you'll find matcha cream choco latte, black sesame cream latte, and matcha cream cold brew.

There's also a hojicha choux milk tea.
There's also a spot for returning your dishes afterward.
Seating and the 2nd- and 3rd-floor outdoor terraces
There's a range of seating, from tables for two up to group tables by the window.

It works well for a solo coffee visit, and it's also easy to find a spot when you come with a group.

There are outdoor terraces on both the 2nd and 3rd floors. Maybe because it was cool autumn weather, a lot of guests were sitting outside. The mood and weather seemed perfect for enjoying a coffee on the terrace. Overall there are quite a lot of seats.

What we ordered: four items for ₩30,000
With such a varied menu, pick according to your taste and headcount.

- Americano ₩6,500
- Black sesame latte ₩7,800
- Egg cookie ₩5,900
- Black sesame fig cheesecake ₩9,800
- Total ₩30,000
The plate is a bit big, but having each item on its own made it much easier to eat.
It's a comfortable space wherever you sit, and each floor has a slightly different mood, which is charming and never boring.
It's autumn now, so the AC felt chilly, and quite a few people were turning it off here and there.

How was the black sesame fig cheesecake?
This cake gets top marks for looks alone.

I tried the black sesame fig cheesecake first.
After peeling off the wrap around it and gently taking a spoonful, it was so soft and clean-tasting.

This was my first time trying a cake topped with fig, so I ate it with a lot of curiosity about what fig would taste and feel like.
It was softer than expected and moderately sweet without being too much — actually that made it even better as a dessert.
The black sesame cheese cream on top was very soft, and the base underneath was easy and gentle to eat too.

These desserts pair beautifully with a sip of coffee.

The sweet cake with the americano was the perfect combination.
Is the egg cookie different from an egg tart?
The egg cookie has a noticeably different taste and texture from the egg tart I'd had before.
It's a sweet cookie with a crisp yet slightly dense dough, topped nicely with egg.
I wondered if it would be similar since it looks like an egg tart — the egg filling cream is similar, but the cookie itself has a different feel from the tart.
The highlight: Something About Coffee's black sesame cream latte
Today's highlight is the black sesame cream latte — I drink this one fairly often.
With black sesame cream lattes elsewhere in the past, there was often no espresso in it, so the sweetness and the black sesame cream flavor were strong on their own.

At Something About Coffee, the thick black sesame cream meets the espresso underneath, and the two come together really well.

Is Something About Coffee worth a stop near Sinnonhyeon Station?
Something About Coffee, a café near Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon Stations, is a spacious, pleasant place with a wide range of seating and a design-forward interior. From the 1st to the 3rd floor the seats are comfortable, and the full-height windows give it a great sense of openness and coolness. There's even an outdoor terrace, so it's great to visit on a nice-weather day, and with its variety of desserts and drinks it's a place that's fun both to taste and to look at. It's great for a date spot too, or for going with a friend to chat and eat something delicious.
