I was looking for a place to eat chicken in Haenggung-dong and ended up at BBQ Chicken Suwon Haenggung~ The store is spacious with roomy seating and stylish interior, making it a great vibe for enjoying chicken^^ I'll also share my review of the Hot Golden Olive Black Pepper, which I tried for the first time~

BBQ Chicken Suwon Haenggung is decorated with a stylish, clean interior. Overall the space is on the larger side, and the seating is generous too. They say it can hold up to 40 people. Since the store is spacious, it's comfortable for groups, and the seats have good spacing, so it suits company dinners or gatherings well~

There's also a separate room inside, which looks great for small group visits. It was a nice space to relax and chat over chicken and beer in Haenggung-dong.

There's a wide range starting from their signature Golden Olive. They also have seasoned chicken and smoked chicken varieties, plus Bbumchiking and Hot Golden Olive. The side menu options are pretty diverse too! Great drinking snacks like whelk noodles, odeng soup, fried chicken gizzards, and canned peaches are all available. They even have pizza, so it was easy to find something to order. It seemed like a great spot to visit with a group when looking for good chicken in Haenggung-dong~

🌶️ What we ordered: Hot Golden Olive Black Pepper

I ordered the Hot Golden Olive Black Pepper. You can taste the tingly pepper aroma alongside the flavor of Golden Olive. There's a generous amount of pepper seasoning sprinkled on, and the subtle pepper aroma and texture were a nice touch~ I'll share more detailed thoughts on the chicken later^^

🍺 A beer while the chicken fries

After ordering, they set up the basics first. They brought out sauce, pickled radish, ppeongtwigi (puffed rice snack), and utensils. I snacked on the ppeongtwigi while waiting for the chicken, and since it was macaroni-shaped, I kept reaching for more. It went really well with a cold beer too. The wait for the chicken didn't feel boring at all hahaha

How does Hot Golden Olive Black Pepper chicken taste?

After a short wait, the chicken arrived! Freshly fried, it was still warm and the pepper aroma hit me the moment it came out. The crispy batter really caught my eye. The pepper seasoning was generously sprinkled, and I could see little pepper flakes in it. That made for a fun texture when biting into it! With the first bite, the pepper flavor came through first, followed by the taste of Golden Olive. The combination worked better than I expected~

🍗 Juicy thigh and breast meat

The chicken overall was fresh and high quality! No off smell at all, and the texture was excellent~ The chicken thigh was cooked through evenly, and the juices stayed nice and moist. The soft yet chewy texture was great!

The chicken breast wasn't dry either. It was moist and tender, so I enjoyed it a lot. The breast paired well with the sauce. Dipping it a little in the sauce gave it a different flavor each time.

🍻 The pepper seasoning is the highlight

I usually eat Golden Olive often, so this time I tried the Hot Golden Olive Black Pepper instead. Maybe because of the added pepper aroma on top of Golden Olive, it didn't feel greasy even by the end. The tingly pepper aroma wasn't overwhelming either, and it paired surprisingly well with the chicken! So if you're looking for good chicken in Haenggung-dong, I'd recommend this as a different kind of option. I especially thought it suited chimaek nights well.

What I liked most about BBQ Chicken Suwon Haenggung was the spacious store~ It seems great for visiting with a group. If you're looking for good chicken in Haenggung-dong, it would also work well as a chimaek gathering spot. This visit was my first time trying the Hot Golden Olive Black Pepper, and it was different from the regular Golden Olive I usually eat. The added tingly pepper aroma made the chicken's flavor come through even more clearly. The crispy batter was satisfying, and the chicken was moist and tender. It seemed like they really pay attention to ingredient quality hahaha Next time the weather's nice, I'll go try some other chicken^^
