8pm duck BBQ couple course with grilled cheese, Gwacheon: Deo Chadol
In short
Deo Chadol is a duck brisket BBQ and duck jumulleok (stir-fried marinated duck) restaurant on Ttwitgol 2-ro in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi. Arriving at 8pm, the writer ordered the couple course — duck brisket BBQ, duck jumulleok, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and fried rice — and added grilled cheese, which arrived as about 8 pieces. With wide tables, a room-like space and baby chairs, Deo Chadol works just as well for a family dinner as for a work get-together.

Today I'm bringing you a review of Deo Chadol, a duck BBQ restaurant in Gwacheon! At first I thought it was a brisket (chadol) specialty place, but it turns out you can enjoy both duck brisket BBQ and duck jumulleok (spicy stir-fried duck) here. We visited in the evening and had a solid meal with the couple course :) Let me introduce it right away!

Deo Chadol's exterior and where to park

We arrived around 8pm, and even at that late hour, about 4 cars pulled in including ours! Watching cars keep arriving made me think this must already be a pretty famous spot in Gwacheon haha. There's plenty of parking space both in front and behind the restaurant, so I don't think you need to worry much about that haha.
Inside Deo Chadol: wide tables, a private-style room, baby chairs
After parking, we headed inside. The place was much bigger and more spacious than I expected, and overall really clean, so it was a nice place to eat! The tables were especially wide, so it would be comfortable to dine here with family too. There's also a room-like space you can eat in, which seemed good for family meals or gatherings haha.
There are baby chairs too, so families with kids can eat comfortably :) We sat by the window, and the atmosphere around us was surprisingly pretty and nice :)
What comes with the couple course at Deo Chadol?

Instead of ordering a single main dish, we went with the couple course so we could try several menus at once! The couple course includes
- ✔ Duck brisket BBQ
- ✔ Duck jumulleok
- ✔ Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)
- ✔ Fried rice
so we got to try both duck dishes, which was great! We also added an order of 'grilled cheese' on top haha.
Banchan (side dishes) served with the course

The basic side dishes were pickled perilla leaves, green onion kimchi, garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce), and salad haha.
The self-serve bar at Deo Chadol

You can grab more side dishes yourself from the self-serve bar if you run out, which was really convenient :)
Duck brisket BBQ with minari (water dropwort) and house sauce

After a short wait, the duck brisket and grilled cheese arrived, and the table filled up with side dishes and the main dishes!

First came the mushrooms, onions, and minari (water dropwort) to grill alongside the duck brisket!

The duck brisket was sliced at just the right thickness — not too thick, not too thin haha. I liked that it was a good size to eat once grilled!
Grilled cheese, the add-on order

I figured it would taste great with the duck brisket, so I ordered the grilled cheese as an extra! It came out to about 8 pieces haha.

I put the duck brisket on the grill, and since it wasn't thick, it cooked quickly, which was great! I was really hungry that day... ㅜㅜ I also grilled some minari with it, and the fragrant minari paired really well with the light, clean flavor of the duck brisket!

It was good just dipped in salt, but I liked dipping it in the provided sauce the most! The sauce itself was so tasty that it went really well with the clean, mild flavor of the duck haha. I also tried it wrapped in lettuce and with minari, enjoying it in a bunch of different combinations :)
Duck jumulleok: marinade flavor and how it pairs with cheese
Next up is the duck jumulleok I was personally looking forward to!

I usually prefer marinated meat over raw meat, and the duck jumulleok's seasoning was really delicious! The sauce for the duck brisket earlier was good too, but the jumulleok's own seasoning was great as well, which I really liked haha.

Stir-fried with vegetables, it had a bit of a dakgalbi (spicy chicken stir-fry) vibe, and I also tried it with the grilled cheese — adding cheese to the seasoned duck jumulleok made for a whole new, delicious flavor!!
Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)
I also tried the doenjang jjigae that came with the duck BBQ! It was packed with hearty ingredients, and having a spoonful here and there while eating the duck brisket helped cut through the greasiness, which was nice haha.
(the doenjang jjigae bubbling away nicely..)
Finishing the meal with fried rice
And finally, the fried rice! I really love fried rice..!!!

With delicious jumulleok still left, how could we not order fried rice haha. They chopped up the leftover jumulleok finely and fried it with the remaining sauce, cooking up the fried rice perfectly haha. And on top of that, we added the grilled cheese too!

Fried rice really is the best way to finish off this kind of seasoning lol. After thoroughly eating everything from the meat to the fried rice, I felt like ordering the couple course was the right call haha.
