What is Grid Cafe in Ogeum-dong like?
Grid Cafe is a bakery café in Ogeum-dong, Songpa-gu, where the dough is mixed, fermented and shaped in the shop and the bread is baked fresh every day. If you love bread, you pay as much attention to a café's bakery lineup as to its coffee, and Grid Cafe is a Songpa dessert café where picking from lots of breads and sweets is half the fun 👍
Salt bread and egg tarts baked daily, so get there early

Salt bread and egg tarts are known as the signature items at Grid Cafe, and there's also ciabatta, scones and baked sweets like cookies. This time I didn't eat in. I picked out the breads I wanted one by one and took them away. I immediately understood why so many people rave about the salt bread, egg tart and focaccia! I'm a total bread lover who has tried almost everything, and every single bread at Grid was seriously good 👏

Getting to Grid Cafe from Ogeum Station, and parking

Grid Cafe isn't right in front of Ogeum Station, but if you stroll along and look around the neighborhood, you'll get there. If you're hunting for a café around Ogeum-dong, Seongnae Stream and Ogeum Oreum Park, it's a good spot to stop by.
Grid Cafe says there's no parking on weekdays, and on weekends you can park behind the building. If you're visiting for takeout on a weekday, you can stop briefly in the residential alley behind the building.
What time should you go for Grid Cafe's fresh bread?

Grid Cafe can close early once the bakery sells out, so if there's a bread you want, I recommend not going too late. I went at 1 PM on a weekday and a few breads were already sold out, which was a bummer. Next time I'll go right when the bread comes out!
Grid Cafe seating and how to order

Step inside Grid Cafe and the first things you see are the bakery display and the ordering area.

It's not a huge, big-box café, but it has a cozy feel that's nice for a short break with bread and coffee.

There are table seats and bar seats too, so it looked fine for enjoying coffee and dessert on your own or having a casual chat with a friend.

You order contactlessly at the kiosk next to the bakery display.
Grid Cafe coffee beans and drinks
At Grid Cafe you can choose between Fritz Coffee's 'Old Dog', 'Jaldoeeogasina' and decaf beans. With so many kinds of bread, it's fun to think about which coffee to pair with which. They also have an Einspänner (coffee topped with cream) and cream latte made with their signature homemade cream, plus blended drinks!
By the way, if you write a photo review, they give you a homemade rusk (a twice-baked crisp bread).
Grid Cafe bread menu: what should you pick?

Grid Bakery says it mixes, ferments and shapes the dough in the shop and bakes it fresh every day. Items made that day are sold that day, so everything is extra fresh. Popular items can sell out in the afternoon, so if you really want a particular bread, it's best to go with time to spare! If you want to browse lots of different breads like I did, I'd recommend a morning visit 👏

For plain salt bread there are two kinds, and I was curious about the crispier crack salt bread because it's not your usual salt bread and seemed new and interesting! I liked being able to choose the salt bread to suit my taste.
How does Grid Cafe package takeout?

Look at how they treat delicious bread, hahaha. So thoughtful, carrying it safely for you ✌️
Grid Cafe wraps each bread individually so it's easy to eat, so you could take it straight to a picnic in the park. Each bread also comes with a guide on how to store and warm it up, so do check it out!

I took away five breads from Grid Cafe this time.
- Crack salt bread
- Mocha salt bread
- Egg tart
- Cheese tart
- Quattro cheese ciabatta
Crack salt bread ₩3,000
Grid Cafe's crack salt bread is ₩3,000. Unlike regular salt bread, it's known for the crispy, cracked texture on the surface, so it's worth trying at least once if you like salt bread 👏
Many people like salt bread crispy outside and chewy inside, and Grid's crack salt bread plays up the crispiness even more. It was appealing and exactly to my taste 👍

Mocha salt bread ₩3,800
Grid Cafe's mocha salt bread is ₩3,800. It adds the sweet flavor of mocha to the plain, savory-salty taste of basic salt bread, so you can expect something different from regular salt bread.
As you'd expect from a salt bread specialist, there are lots of flavors like mocha, streusel (crumb topping) and pollock roe, so it's fun to pick. Mocha definitely goes well with coffee, so I recommend having it with a cup!
Egg tart ₩4,000
Grid Cafe's egg tart is ₩4,000, and along with the salt bread it was the one I really wanted to take home. It's one of their signature items, and the combination of rich, smooth vanilla bean filling and crisp pastry is a work of art 👏

It's packed with egg filling, so the rich, smooth flavor is outstanding, you know? I especially like taking away a plain bread like salt bread together with a sweet dessert and alternating bites, and this was a great pick for that kind of combo.

Cheese tart ₩4,500
Grid Cafe's cheese tart is ₩4,500, and I picked one up along with the egg tart. If you like tarts but prefer something richer and nuttier, definitely try the cheese tart!
It's similar to the egg tart, but full of that signature cheese flavor, so it tastes kind of upscale? Besides egg and cheese, there are chocolate tarts, corn tarts and more, so you can compare and choose.

Quattro cheese ciabatta ₩5,000
Grid Cafe's quattro cheese ciabatta is ₩5,000. Ciabatta is a classic Italian bread known for its plain, moist taste, and Grid's ciabatta is said to be a popular vegan bread with no sugar, butter, eggs or milk. The jambon-beurre (ham and butter) ciabatta sandwich was sold out, so I ordered the quattro cheese ciabatta instead, and it was loaded with cheese and really delicious.

If salt bread and tarts feel like snacks or dessert, this cheese bread was a more filling thing to enjoy.
Who is Grid Cafe near Ogeum Station for?

If you're looking for somewhere near Ogeum Station to enjoy house-made bread and coffee, Grid Cafe is worth a visit 👍 Especially if you're after a salt bread or egg tart spot in Songpa, you can find lots of bakery items in one place and pick by taste. Go a little early, when the bread comes out, choose what you want and enjoy it in the café with coffee, or do as I did, take away a bunch and savor them slowly at home 👏
