Post-Sokcho-trip siraegi pork bone soup in Ingye-dong, Suwon

In short

Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is a 24-hour pork bone soup (ppyeo haejangguk) restaurant on the ground floor of the Drama City building in Ingye-dong, Suwon. After a trip to Sokcho, the writer had two bowls of siraegi (dried radish greens) pork bone soup at regular spice for dinner, and each bowl held 3 bones with so much meat that it outweighed the broth. Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk is a strong pick for a first-round group dinner on a chilly day or a hangover meal after drinks.

Why I came to Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch, a haejangguk spot in Ingye-dong

Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk (얼큰한뼈해장국) Suwon Ingye Branch is a 24-hour pork bone soup restaurant famous as a haejangguk (hangover soup) spot in Ingye-dong, Suwon. After a Sokcho trip, once the daytime sightseeing was done, I stopped by for dinner!

It's gotten pretty chilly lately, right? So naturally I was craving a hot soup. That's how I ended up at this well-known Ingye-dong bone soup place!

Where do you park at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch?

The Drama City building where the restaurant sits has a basement car park, so you can just park downstairs. This is the outside of the building.

Use the restaurant and you get 2 hours of free basement parking!

The car park goes down to B3, so it's fairly roomy. I parked on B2 and took the elevator up!

There's actually room for about 3 cars in front of the restaurant too, but I used the basement!

It's open 24 hours, so is the place clean?

Inside, it's all tables for 4, which suits a company dinner or a meal, big group or small. 24-hour restaurants are often poorly kept and messy, but this one felt well systemized and clean overall.

Ordering by tablet: two bowls of mild ugeoji pork bone soup

Every table has an ordering tablet. But let's decide from the menu in advance and order fast! I ordered my usual, two bowls of ugeoji (dried radish greens) pork bone soup, mild!

The side dishes and sauce came out as soon as we ordered!

You can get more sides self-serve: kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and pickled onions! Honestly, with just these you can finish a bowl of rice.

How were the taste and portion of the ugeoji pork bone soup?

Ta-da~~~ our two bowls of ugeoji pork bone soup have arrived!

The signature of Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk is the heaping pile of thinly sliced green onion on top!

True to an ugeoji bone soup, it's packed with ugeoji. Ugeoji is dried radish greens, a winter staple, and it gives the broth a deep flavor.

3 bones, more meat than broth

The bones are sturdy too! One bowl of ugeoji pork bone soup comes with 3 bones, which is definitely not a small amount!

There was so much meat that my hand started to hurt while eating!

And a heap of rice too... It's perfect for a hangover or a company dinner. I think a company dinner should be about eating and drinking generously, and this works as a first-round spot or as a spicy finish to the night.

I-I finally got all the meat off the bones...

There's more meat than broth...

See that? More meat than broth..... I wondered how much they have to sell to turn a profit at this portion. The meat was thick and tender too.

Free ice cream at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch

After you pay and before you leave, you get 1 free ice cream per person!!!! And they aren't cheap ones: there's Melona and Screw Bar (Screwbar), so you can cleanse your palate with a tasty ice cream!

Would I go back for an Ingye-dong company dinner or hangover meal?

Next time I have a company dinner or a get-together in Ingye-dong, I'll visit Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch again. If you're drinking in Ingye-dong, I strongly recommend it both as a meeting spot and as a hangover stop before heading home!
