What is Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch like?
Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch (고기9단 침산직영점) is a grill restaurant at 197 Chimsannam-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu. It is open 11:00 to 21:50, closes for a break from 15:00 to 17:00, and has a parking lot. I stumbled on it not long ago and found a really good place. It already has a great reputation as a Buk-gu, Daegu favorite, and the place was packed with customers!
Is there a wait on weekday evenings? Interior and parking
Gogi 9dan Chimsan has a big parking lot on the 1st floor and a spacious hall on the 2nd, and there was a wait even on a weekday evening. Seeing people waiting on a weekday made me think, okay, I've really found a proper Buk-gu, Daegu restaurant, you know?

If you hate waiting, make a reservation in advance. Booking through Naver Reservation is even easier.
A play room for kids
There is also a play room on one side of the hall, so it's a perfect spot to visit with kids.
Gogi 9dan Chimsan menu and prices

Gogi 9dan Chimsan sells a wide range of beef and pork, and the lunch specials come in so many varieties too. It made me want to come back and try every one! And the prices are very reasonable, so it's great value.
Order at the table kiosk

Everything is ordered on the kiosk at your table, with no need to press a call bell, so it's honestly super convenient.

Right after you order, the staff bring the charcoal. I liked how quickly they moved, and they put in plenty of charcoal, so the grilling speed stays the same from start to finish. With the air conditioning keeping things cool while you eat, the satisfaction goes up even more!
Is the 500g anchangsal plate for ₩98,000 enough for two?

The anchangsal (skirt steak) plate, the best-selling menu item at Gogi 9dan Chimsan, is ₩98,000 for 500g, which was just the right amount for two. All the meat is trimmed to order right when you order it.
Side dishes that keep you reaching for more

Another thing I liked about Gogi 9dan Chimsan is the variety of side dishes, and every one of them is the kind that takes a lot of work to make! Some of them I haven't seen anywhere else, so picking and tasting is a lot of fun.
What comes in the ₩17,000 9dan set?

For just ₩17,000 extra, the 9dan set at Gogi 9dan gives you Korean beef yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), pork kimchi stew, jjolmyeon (chewy spicy cold noodles) and fresh wasabi. It's the ultimate value menu. I'd recommend it if you visit, and the portion is seriously generous!

My boyfriend can only eat really fresh yukhoe, and maybe because Gogi 9dan has such high turnover, he said it was really fresh the moment he took a bite. The seasoning was the kind that nobody dislikes.
The jjolmyeon has properly cooked noodles in a non-spicy sauce, mild enough that kids could enjoy it, and the crunchy bean sprouts make it beat most snack bars.
The jjolmyeon plus yukhoe combo is true love. If you visit after reading this post, definitely try it that way.
How did we grill and eat the anchangsal?

At Gogi 9dan Chimsan the staff grill the anchangsal for you, and with the charcoal piled high it cooked really fast. We ate it when it still had a slight hint of red, and the beefy flavor filled my whole mouth!
They say anchangsal is a rare cut, only about 500g to 700g per cow, which maybe makes it taste even better.

Personally, I love anchangsal because it's super chewy but never tough, and the beefy flavor spreading softly through your mouth can't be compared to other cuts. Eaten with all the different side dishes, it's naturally even better!
Imagine how good it is eaten with these great-value set items~ Since I'm a total carb piggy, putting a piece of meat on the vinegared rice and eating it like meat sushi was seriously delicious, and my boyfriend went absolutely crazy for the jjolmyeon combo.

The side dishes you can't find elsewhere also go perfectly with the meat. The food is neat and tidy too, so I think it would be good for taking elders.
We boiled the pork kimchi stew after finishing the meat. It cut right through the richness of the meat, and it was properly spicy, so I think it's good with rice or with a drink.
Free shaved red bean ice and self-serve takeaway coffee
After we finished eating and the charcoal was taken out, a staff member brought us nostalgic shaved ice with red beans (patbingsu) as a free dessert. Even though it was free, it was loaded with toppings! With this, I'd definitely become a true regular.

The last thing that really touched me was that on your way out after the meal, both instant mix coffee and Americano are ready for takeaway. That's why everyone says Gogi 9dan Chimsan is number one in Buk-gu, Daegu!! Price, food and service were all so satisfying that I definitely want to come back, so I recommend you visit at least once.
