Yeouido izakaya catch-up over Terra: lamb shoulder rack at Nani

There are days when, after a whole day of chaos at work, all you want is good food and a drink to unwind. It was one of those days recently — I met a friend after work in Yeouido, and after wondering where to go, we ended up at Nani, a Yeouido izakaya known for its atmosphere and its food. Honestly, the food quality and the space were both better than I expected, and I had a genuinely nice time.

Nani Yeouido Branch is open Monday to Saturday from 5pm to 2am, and closed every Sunday. There's no break time, and last order is at 1am.

It's located at 37 Gukjegeumyung-ro 2-gil, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Yeouido Station. For parking, there's a public lot nearby.

It's not far from Yeouido Station, so it wasn't hard to find at all. Even during rush hour I got there quickly, so I'd have no hesitation picking it as a meeting spot.

What is the atmosphere like inside Nani Yeouido Branch?

From the entrance, the soft lighting and warm wood-tone interior of Nani Yeouido Branch caught my eye right away. Overall it wasn't too loud, so it was easy to chat while eating, and the tables were spaced out just enough to feel comfortable.

There were also seats set up for a more private experience, which seemed like they'd work well for a date or a small gathering. Most of the other guests seemed to be leisurely enjoying their food and drinks too, so the overall mood of the place was really nice.

I used to rush straight home after work, but lately these occasional evenings meeting a friend for good food have become a real form of healing. This time too, we got so caught up chatting about how things were going that I lost track of time.

Looking at the menu, there was quite a range — grilled dishes, braised dishes, all sorts of drinking snacks. I actually spent a while deciding what to order. The meat dishes looked delicious and there were plenty of dishes that pair well with drinks, so it felt like I could come back multiple times and try something new each time. This time we decided to go with the signature dishes.

Lamb shoulder rack: juicy, tender, not gamey

The first thing we ordered at Nani Yeouido Branch was the lamb shoulder rack.

From the moment it came out perfectly grilled, the visuals were already great.

Taking a bite, it was juicy and the meat was incredibly tender.

That distinct lamb flavor was still there, but it wasn't overpowering at all — I think even someone trying lamb for the first time could enjoy this comfortably.

The more I chewed, the more a subtle nuttiness spread through, and it was grilled just right so the juicy texture stayed all the way through. Piece by piece, the plate emptied surprisingly fast.

Soy-braised beef tendon: the best match for drinks

The soy-braised beef tendon (쇼유스지조림) we ordered alongside it was satisfying too.

The tendon had that chewy-yet-tender texture, and the savory-salty sauce had soaked in well, so I kept reaching for more.

The seasoning wasn't too strong, which made it perfect alongside drinks, and the portion was generous enough to share among a few people. You could tell each dish was made with care, which made it taste even better.

Terra bottled beer completes the pairing

With food this good, of course we ordered a bottle of Terra beer too.

A cold sip of beer followed by a bite of lamb shoulder rack, and I could feel the whole day's fatigue melting away.

It went just as well with the soy-braised beef tendon, so the whole combination was really satisfying. The balance between food and drink was so good, it made for a perfect setting to talk slowly and enjoy the evening.

This was my first visit to Nani, this Yeouido izakaya, and I was able to enjoy both the food and the atmosphere fully. The lamb shoulder rack and the soy-braised beef tendon were both delicious, and the comfortable space made for a relaxed evening. I'd like to come back and try other menu items one by one next time.
