I've been wanting to calm my hair down lately, so I went looking for a salon and ended up at Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store!
Why a slick perm booking became a clinic and cut at Heeol Hair
What I originally wanted was the slick perm that's everywhere these days!!! But while I was looking at photos, I realized the style I actually wanted was closer to a straightening treatment than a perm. So I decided to get a consultation on my hair condition first before deciding, and headed to Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store!
How to find Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store from Sinnonhyeon Station
Heeol Hair Gangnam Flagship Store is located near Sinnonhyeon Station, so it was easy to get to. Once I got to the building, the Heeol Hair sign was right there, so I found it without any trouble!
The salon is on the 3rd floor of the building, so you just take the elevator up :)
When I got to the 3rd floor, the salon felt bigger and cleaner than I expected! The spacing between seats was good and nothing felt cramped, so it seemed like a comfortable place to get a treatment. I showed the stylist a photo of the style I wanted and got a consultation based on my hair's condition first.
Frequently dyed hair: the advice Heeol Hair gave instead of magic straightening
The photo I showed was of a style where the hair lies flat and calm all the way down to clean ends. Just looking at the photo, I thought it was a slick perm, but once I explained the exact look I wanted in more detail, it turned out I actually wanted something closer to magic straightening. (Is a slick perm... basically magic straightening...?)
But after looking at my actual hair, the stylist told me that since I dye my hair often and don't have particularly strong curl, she wouldn't recommend doing magic straightening right away. Given the state of my hair, she suggested I get a clinic treatment first to smooth things out, and if I still wanted the slick perm afterward, I could come back within 2 weeks of the clinic to get it done. After hearing that, I agreed there was no need to push my hair with magic straightening right now, so I decided to get a clinic + cut this time!

Inside the Heeol Hair clinic: solution and steam, twice
After the consultation, we got started on the clinic treatment. First, the clinic solution was carefully applied all over my hair, and then steam was used to help it absorb fully into the strands. The stylist checked carefully to make sure the solution was applied evenly, so I could just relax and wait through the treatment.
Then the solution was applied one more time and steamed again. Instead of doing it just once, splitting the solution-and-steam process into two rounds seemed to really help the clinic sink into my hair. I liked that the stylist kept checking on my hair's condition throughout :)
How the hair looked after the clinic and cut
After the clinic, the stylist finished up with a clean cut in the style I wanted. Looking at the finished result, my hair felt way calmer than I expected! In particular, the slight frizz on the inside of my hair was so smoothed out after the clinic that it was barely~~ noticeable anymore.
Best of all, even just drying my hair normally at home made it look calm and neat, almost like I'd gotten magic straightening — I was really happy with that. I originally came in for a slick perm, but thanks to the stylist not pushing a treatment my hair wasn't ready for and instead consulting based on its actual condition, I ended up going with a clinic this time haha. For now I'll just focus on taking care of my hair, and if I still want that slick style later, I'll go back for the consultation-recommended perm like she mentioned :)
