I set off in search of a good restaurant in Okgil-dong, Bucheon +_+ Going through reviews, I noticed a lot of repeat customers at this Okgil-dong meat place called Dwaeji Gongbang, so I decided to check it out — and sure enough, the food was great and the staff were so friendly haha +_+ I went home full and happy, proud that the reviews hadn't led me astray ^^

Dwaeji Gongbang in Okgil-dong reminded me so much of Geomeun Doma, a premium Iberico place I used to really love (they're gone now, sob) — it really recreates that premium Iberico experience. Full of flavor, full of juice! Chewy and tender.
Dwaeji Gongbang's menu and what 59,000 won gets two people
The menu

For 59,000 won you get two portions of meat plus a dessert of perilla oil buckwheat noodles and a 500ml drink — such a generous amount, and delicious too, which made it even better +_+

This is the charcoal direct-fire grill, full of juicy flavor.
What is the dining room like? Wood tones and an Irworobongdo screen
Inside Dwaeji Gongbang Bucheon Okgil-dong Main Branch hangs an Irworobongdo (Painting of the Sun, Moon and Five Peaks) — the kind of painting once hung behind Joseon kings' thrones! It felt like the owner's wish to treat guests with the utmost hospitality was captured in that single painting, and it left a strong impression.
The space has a soft, comfortable wood-toned feel, never too loud, so it's a good atmosphere for chatting over a meal. Maybe that's why it was so busy!! Oh, and when we went to eat there were even some Marine Corps guys there. Just noticed it in the photo now haha.
The 500g half platter: Iberico and Korean pork side by side
What we ordered

- Mixed platter, half portion 500g
- Pepsi 500ml
- Perilla oil buckwheat noodles
- Rice
With this order, it came to about 59,000 won.

Pork neck (Iberico Black), rib meat (Iberico), pork jowl (a special Korean pork cut), pork belly (Iberico Black or Korean pork) — that's probably how it broke down. A combo of premium Iberico and Korean pork.

There are four different cuts you can eat together, so it's varied and you never get tired of it. That gorgeous, glistening Iberico pork +_+ chive salad on the side, thoughtful service. And a mega highball that looks like a generous size to share between two.

They even show you how to eat it for the best flavor.

There's lettuce for wraps, and salted anchovy sauce (melchi-jeot). You grill it yourself, but they come by now and then to check on the meat. Mushrooms and aged kimchi too, all eaten as part of the four-cut combo — so good.

Free soft tofu stew and the meljeot (salted anchovy) dip
The spicy soft tofu stew that comes free at Dwaeji Gongbang has great savory depth too. The tofu itself is nice and soft.

Judging by the visuals, you'd think it's just any old meat place in Okgil-dong, right? I dipped it in the salted anchovy sauce too — even dipping a lot, it never got that salty. The seasoning is just right.

The rib meat has a great chew without ever being tough. Iberico kind of tastes like beef somehow — beef flavor but it's pork, how great is that >_<

Finish with perilla oil makguksu instead of cold noodles
Dwaeji Gongbang's perilla oil buckwheat noodles come topped with aged kimchi, and they had a slight sweetness with a nice perilla oil aroma. I felt like ordering this instead of spicy or plain cold noodles was the right call.

There were also shishito peppers, which made it even better. I love shishito peppers too ^^

The water isn't just plain water — they give you hutgae (Korean raisin tree) tea, which is great even if you didn't drink the night before haha. Nice and cool.

Go ahead and check out the order details.

They even have a meat aging fridge in the store ^^ Pretty cool, right?
Turns out there are a lot of great restaurants in Okgil-dong ^^ If you're looking for a delicious meat restaurant with friendly staff in Okgil-dong, this place seems like a solid pick. Thanks for the meal.
