What is Macho Nacho in Mangwon?

Macho Nacho is a nacho bar in front of Mangwon Hangang Park, perfect when you want a quick, easy second round. As a Mangwon local, this was already my third visit.

Honestly, you don't even need a second round for it: it's also a great place to grab food and carry it to the Han River! I've never eaten in the shop. Every time I've taken it home, because that's a neighborhood resident's privilege, hohoho.

Go straight down that way and there's a slightly scary banner about sweltering heat, rain, sweat and tears... but head to Macho Nacho and you can have draft beer! Hahaha. It made me laugh every time I walked past, so I took a photo for the blog.

How do you order takeout at Macho Nacho?

For takeout at Macho Nacho, you can look at the menu outside and order, and you pay inside the shop. They say they use domestic vegetables and natural cheese, and apparently there's no coffee, haha. The exterior does look like a café, I admit... but this is a bar! A! Bar!!

The signature beer snack at this Mangwon bar is nachos! There's the Macho Nacho, Signature Nacho, Cilantro Nacho, Beef Brisket Nacho, Meat Soboro Nacho and Pepperoni Pizza Nacho. I even looked at the name again to check whether the shop is named after nachos...

You can add toppings too: cheese, cilantro, pepperoni, bacon, meat soboro (crumbled seasoned meat), beef brisket or guacamole. I'd always had the Signature Nacho, but this time I picked the most expensive item: the Pepperoni Pizza Nacho with extra cilantro. When I tried adding cilantro last time, it was seriously tasty...

Does Macho Nacho serve other snacks and drinks besides nachos?

Besides nachos, Macho Nacho has drinking snacks like black pepper grilled chicken and Kielbasa in Hell, plus soupy dishes such as stew, pasta and steamed dishes cooked with alcohol. I haven't tried them yet, though! Oddly, some menu items can only be requested when they're not busy, and now I'm curious, haha. I'll take on them later.

Besides draft beer, there's soju, bottled beer, cocktails, drinks by the glass and non-alcoholic options, so pick whatever suits you. Absinthe... the drink Van Gogh supposedly cut his ear off over... In college the owner of my regular bar gave me a glass for his birthday, and I remember it's extremely strong. (TMI) Anyway..!

What is inside Macho Nacho like?

Macho Nacho doesn't have many tables, but it has everything you'd need, even a restroom inside. Since you have to pay inside, I took the chance to snap some photos of the shop. They even have an English menu! There really are a lot of foreigners at the Han River these days... if you want to feel like you've gone abroad without leaving the country, head to the Han River..

The Pepperoni Pizza Nacho came out after about a 5-minute wait. They make it to order, so it was warm! The packaging is cute too. Time to hurry home and eat. Having a Mangwon bar like this near my home is great.

If you hate cilantro, this photo is probably horrifying... but as someone who only recently started eating cilantro, it looks gorgeous..! If you like cilantro, extra cilantro is a must! And as the owner told me, you have to crush it up and mix it all together.

Macho Nacho's Pepperoni Pizza Nacho from several angles! It had pepperoni, cheese, jalapeños and assorted sauces. Rereading the menu, it's the Macho Nacho with double the cheese and added pepperoni. Nice!

Do Macho Nacho's nachos stay crunchy to the end?

Macho Nacho's Pepperoni Pizza Nacho has sauces drizzled over it, but it stayed crunchy to the very end. For anyone worn out by the heat and desperate for a beer: Mangwon Hangang Park is just packed with people.. have a drink in a cool shop indoors.. the Han River vibe only lasts a moment.. (says a neighborhood resident)

Anyway... Macho Nacho is a great bar in Mangwon for a simple beer or two~!
