Namhansanseong bakery café for a morning drive with parents: Sum

Sum (남한산성 카페 숨) sits in Dunjeon Village in Ojeon-ri, surrounded by mountains and sky. Spring, summer, autumn and winter each bring different scenery, and it's a quiet spot with fresh air!

Sum is close to Namhansanseong, so it pairs nicely with a scenic drive. There's a large parking area, which made it easy to come by car, and not having to worry about parking means you can spend your time in a relaxed way. That's a real plus.

A look inside Sum

The first things I noticed when I walked in were the high ceiling and the wide-open space. The whole café feels airy, not stuffy at all, and the natural light pouring through the big windows made the interior feel even warmer.

There's a good variety of seats, so it works for couples wanting a quiet time, families, or friends hanging out. The seats are spaced widely apart, so it didn't feel crowded, and I especially liked being able to enjoy my coffee in peace.

The delicious bakery items were being prepared and restocked continuously through the morning.

Restrooms are on both the 1st and 2nd floors, so they're easy to use.

Main building, annex, and the Namhansanseong view through the windows

Sum is split into a main building and an annex. The main building is a comfortable two-floor space with a high ceiling, and full-front windows on both floors make it great for taking in the scenery.

The nature of Namhansanseong beyond the huge windows looks like it would change with every season. On my morning visit, sunlight filled the room and gave it an even warmer feel.

Sipping coffee and looking out the window, I felt like I'd stepped away from my busy daily life for a moment, and it left me feeling refreshed.
