Why I decided to cover my gray hair after 5 years, just before turning 40

I went to ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch, a hair salon in Hannam-dong, for gray coverage dye. I'm about to hit my "young forty" years, and lately one worry has been bugging me more and more... gray hair, T_T Maybe you can't tell from the outside, but every time I sweep my hair back, those gray strands pop up and sparkle, and it stressed me out every single time...??

On top of that, my hair isn't even dyed, but maybe because of sun and other outside factors, the tone had gone blotchy, frizzy and messy-looking. So I finally made up my mind to dye it for the first time in 5 years and headed here!!

This is ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch, the Hannam-dong hair salon~!! I wanted not just the dye but the styling too to be handled by a well-known designer, so before booking I went through the Naver profile and reviews, and there were SO many reviews..lol I trusted the place before I even got there.. They say it's number one for repeat visits!!! To cut to the chase, I wish I'd come sooner haha

A spacious, café-like salon

First of all, the salon is really big and roomy~ Modern, and it feels like walking into a café?? They say it's the biggest salon around Hannam Five-way Intersection, and the moment I walked in it was so wide and clean that my mood instantly lifted~

250 free parking spaces with no time limit

Parking here is 250 spaces and free with no time limit, so if you're driving, you don't need to worry about it haha I think this matters more than you'd expect T_T Lots of places only give you 2 hours free...

What did my gray hair look like before dyeing?

Can you see it..? My gray... hair... I think it's mostly genetic~ My dad already had completely white hair from his mid-30s.. Truly snow white.. As his daughter, I'm scared and terrified I'll go down the same road..T_T I held out without dyeing, but now it really can't go on....

Can a consultation get gray coverage without a color that's too dark?

At ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch, the gray-hair consultation looks at where the gray grows in, which way you sweep your hair, and your natural hair tone, then picks a red-toned shade from the Milbon color chart. The consultation alone was on another level.

The designer checked where my gray was coming in, the direction I usually part and sweep my hair, even my natural hair tone..!! One by one, and she figured out what I wanted so well..? Honestly, I was greedy... I told her I wanted the gray covered for sure, but didn't want a color that's too dark, and still wanted a slightly bright feel;;

Even as I said it, I wondered if that was possible, but she spread out the Milbon color chart, held swatches right against my hair, and picked the exact tone with me in the red family haha In the end, the designer fulfilled all my fussy wishes!!!

Dyeing long hair: did the application hurt?

Even with my long hair, the combing was so gentle that my scalp didn't hurt at all, and the gray-heavy roots got extra careful coverage. The dyeing process was really meticulous.

Honestly, my hair is long, so I was a little nervous that combing would pull and hurt;; But both the designer and the assistant combed so carefully that my scalp didn't hurt at all...!! And for the gray-heavy areas, they paid extra attention, applying to the roots strand by strand with no gaps, and kept checking the color as it developed, so I was comfortable the whole time~ While I waited they even set out snacks and drinks on the table, so it felt like I'd come to rest at a café?? ...lol

And the designer re-checked the parts the assistant had applied, going over them again and again, spreading the dye generously and evenly. I was so, so moved T_T

A shampoo worth raving about, with scalp pressure massage

This place is a shampoo paradise. Shampooing, rinsing and treatment were all so thorough, with a refreshing scalp pressure massage too..! So this is what a shampoo paradise is.,? The assistant was really skilled haha It felt as refreshing as a scalp massage~ No lingering residue, just clean and fresh♥

How did the red-toned gray coverage turn out?

The red-toned gray coverage at ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch covered the gray without that dated, flat dark look, and also toned down and tidied my overall hair color. The result..?? Do I even need to say.

While drying my hair, I kept checking the spots where the gray had been, and I was so happy it wasn't that dated, flat dark kind of coverage.. It was exactly the color I wanted, covering the gray while slightly toning down my whole hair color, so my frizzy, damaged, straw-like hair looked so much neater~

I'd also had a perm not long ago, so I worried about damage, but it seems damage was kept to a minimum, which I'm even more grateful for~ And what really touched me: even though I hadn't gotten a perm this time, she explained in detail how to style my hair at home, and even demonstrated it herself~ Thanks to those tips, even if it isn't as good as at the salon, styling at home has been easy~!! A designer who's as warm-hearted as she is good-looking...!!! The best haha

My frizzy texture has settled down and shines in the light, so I'm happy every time I look at it~ haha Even when the wind blows, no more worries!! The designer at ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch has the sense to match not just the gray coverage but the whole tone, and I totally recommend her.. I'll go back when my hair grows out..T_T
