Garlic-ssam octopus and drink set at Jju Baksa Magok, Gangseo Seoul

In short

Jju Baksa Magok Branch is a webfoot octopus restaurant near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station Exit 8 in Gangseo, Seoul. A longtime regular who usually orders delivery or dines in came back for the drink set — self-made rice balls, cheese steamed egg, pork belly octopus, and finishing fried rice — this time requesting garlic and ssamjang (dipping sauce) on the side to wrap in lettuce. Between the ssam combo, the plump octopus, and the savory fried rice, it's clear why this place earns repeat visits.

Today I want to introduce a favorite webfoot octopus restaurant near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station — Jju Baksa Magok Branch! Jju Baksa is genuinely one of my most-loved restaurants. I've already ordered delivery from home many times and eaten in the dining room plenty of times too, so this is that kind of review haha.

It's a place I've ordered delivery from so many times! Whenever friends come visit my place or stop by the neighborhood, this is my go-to favorite spot to take them. Let me introduce it!

Jju Baksa Magok's location and outdoor terrace seats

It's just a short walk from Exit 8 of Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station. It'd also be a good stop on the way to Seoul Botanic Park!

The weather's gotten cooler lately, so you can enjoy the outdoor terrace vibe now too. When we visited around 3pm, there were still quite a few people eating outside haha. We're planning to try the terrace once it gets a bit cooler — I bet it's amazing for dinner haha.

How long is the wait?

We went after the lunch rush so there was no wait, but if you come during lunch there might be a line! They have a waitlist board haha. Last time I came for dinner there were a lot of people waiting, and I remember waiting too haha.

The set menus are a great deal — here's how to order

You can check the menu like this at the entrance, and there's a tablet on each table inside for more detail! Jju Baksa's set menus are such a good deal that I highly recommend ordering a set. I usually get either the drink set or the fried rice set.

Every time I come to Jju Baksa, I feel like they really care about cleanliness, which I love! It's always spotless whenever I visit.

It's not a self-serve zone, but they keep refilling the side dishes for you here haha.

The ssam combo with garlic and ssamjang requested on the side

These are the side dishes that come standard! Wrapping everything in a ssam (lettuce wrap) is unbelievably delicious, seriously. Stack perilla leaf, pickled radish, glass noodles, peanut sauce, bean sprouts, and octopus all together and it's honestly amazing...!!

I always request garlic and ssamjang on the side to wrap in together — this combo is insane..!! If you love garlic, definitely ask for it and try eating it this way!

The self-made rice balls and steamed egg that come with the drink set

Another great thing about Jju Baksa..! They give you so many side dishes! We ordered the drink set and it came with self-made rice balls and steamed egg too haha. You can also choose the steamed egg — crab, soft, or cheese — whichever you like! We tried all of them, and cheese steamed egg is still my favorite haha.

My husband worked hard making the self-made rice balls haha.

Self-made rice balls

The self-made rice balls were so savory and delicious too~ My husband wanted to just mix it all roughly and eat it with a spoon, but I said no way haha. If we're eating it, we're eating it pretty!

And finally, the star — the octopus! We always order the pork belly octopus haha. We had a fun chat about how the octopus seems bigger and plumper than before while we ate haha. It's amazing every single time I come here..! The cheese rice cake mixed in there is especially delicious too! (My husband doesn't usually like rice cakes, but he always eats that cheese rice cake haha.)

If you love eating wrapped in ssam, please eat it this way!! It's so, so, so, so, so good. Just writing this post makes me want to eat it again... my craving cooldown is way too short haha.

Finishing fried rice at Jju Baksa

The finish is, of course, fried rice

What else would you finish octopus with but fried rice?! Jju Baksa's fried rice is seriously so good.. Not too salty, not too bland — just the right seasoning with that savory umami taste! Even though we were already full, it was so good we ate a ton and then took an hour-long walk before heading home haha.. I couldn't put my spoon down..

My favorite restaurant that I usually visit on my own dime — this time I got a good opportunity to visit as a sponsored review, but I'll keep going back on my own dime from here on out! If you're looking for a great webfoot octopus restaurant, give Jju Baksa Magok a try haha!
