Pyeongchon lunch special: boneless monkfish stew for two, Haebonjeong

Haebonjeong Haemuljjim & Anguk-jjim Pyeongchon Branch is a monkfish stew (agujjim) restaurant that recently opened in the Pyeongchon food alley behind the Pyeongchon hagwon district in Anyang, Gyeonggi. The lunch special boneless monkfish stew, ordered as 1.5 servings at the mild-medium level (slightly spicy), was generous enough for two people with food left over, and the chewy monkfish had no small bones alongside fresh gonyi (monkfish roe) and mideodeok (sea squirt). With 7 spice levels, 4–5 parking spots out front and 2 hours of support at a parking tower one minute away, Haebonjeong works well for group meals near the Pyeongchon hagwon district.

Indeogwon Korean restaurant with whole grilled sea eel set

Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch is a wood-fired grilled fish restaurant on the 1st floor of Kids Mom Center Building B in Bisan-dong, Anyang, near Anyang Stadium. The boyang (nourishing) set for two brought whole grilled domestic sea eel with grilled mackerel and flounder, seasonal braised mackerel, and a self-bar with tteokbokki and nurungji (scorched rice tea), and parking was easy because the building is large. For an easy-to-park, wholesome meal near Indeogwon, Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch is a 1000% repeat visit.

Korean head spa after a straight perm at Aiva Hair, a Gunpo salon

Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom is a large hair salon near Sanbon Station in Gunpo, Gyeonggi, occupying an entire 100-pyeong third floor. After a magic straight perm left the writer's hair dry and frizzy, Aiva Hair gave the Shiseido full care clinic with no length-based extra charge — impurity removal, protein essence with heat treatment, a moisture-oil ampoule, then a natural detox head spa. Simply blow-drying afterward left the hair smooth enough to catch an angel ring, making a regular clinic feel worth booking.

Anyang company dinner spot with parking out front: Sannae Sutbul Galbi

Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch is a Korean pork galbi (pork rib) restaurant a two-minute walk from Bakdal Market in Bakdal-dong, Anyang, Gyeonggi. There is room for two cars right in front of the restaurant and a free Anyang 7 Dunchi lot three minutes away when it is full, and the meal here was two servings of Korean pork galbi plus 6,000-won grilled pork skin and a 3,000-won doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). With a separate private room for groups and strong value for the price, Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch is a 100% return visit.

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch is a hanok-style grilled fish restaurant in Uiwang, Gyeonggi, newly opened next to Jeongwon Kalguksu near Baegun Lake. The meal was an atka mackerel rice pot set and a Spanish mackerel rice pot set with an extra mackerel dish added, plus japchae, kimchi pancake and tteokbokki from the self-serve bar, refilled once. With a large parking lot and separate rooms, Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo suits a meal with parents or a group gathering.

Gwacheon Munwon-dong seaweed soup, leftovers to go: Haenon Miyeok

Haenon Miyeok Gwacheon Direct Branch is a Korean restaurant in Munwon-dong, Gwacheon, Gyeonggi. On a weekend dinner visit, I ordered boneless flounder and beef seaweed soup sets for 19,000 and 20,000 won, refilled the side dishes and hijiki rice, then packed up the leftover soup.
