Jeonpo-dong Korean restaurant, yukhoe bowl in gopchang gim: Hyangtaek
In short
Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch is a Korean restaurant in Jeonpo-dong, Busan, a 6-minute walk from Exit 7 of Jeonpo Station. The meal was yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef and rice bowl, 14,000 won) plus the summer-only pollock yukhoe mulhoe (raw pollock in icy broth, 16,000 won), eaten with the thin somyeon noodles first and then rice stirred into the broth, with tidy side dishes of seed jeotgal, gungchae stem salad and gopchang gim seaweed. Nothing at Hyangtaek tastes overpowering, so it works as an easy, ingredient-forward lunch to bring parents to.

Hyangtaek
Hi, I'm Sagongju, living for style and taste! I want to introduce a place I loved visiting in Jeonpo whenever I wanted something clean but a little special in Korean food. The healthy menu lineup really won me over, and I had a filling, delicious meal here — Hyangtaek 🍚
Where is Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch, and what is it like inside?
Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch is a 6-minute walk from Exit 7 of Jeonpo Station!

The exterior felt clean and modern overall, with a subtle warmth added on top. Rather than being flashy, it had an understated feel that came across as tasteful.

Because it's an open kitchen, the space felt more open, and my trust in the food went way up ⬆️

Fitting for a Korean restaurant, the whole place had a calm, quiet atmosphere. Rather than being purely traditional just because it's Korean food, it had a touch of Jeonpo's own sensibility mixed in, giving it a sophisticated feel.

Thanks to the soft lighting, it was better suited to a quiet chat than a loud, bustling restaurant. The tables weren't cramped together, so I could eat at ease, and it felt comfortable overall.

Before the food arrives, take a look at how to enjoy Hyangtaek properly 📋

What side dishes come with the meal?
At Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch, the banchan (side dishes) come out first, arranged so neatly it really felt like a proper Korean restaurant, and looked great too. The warm, savory soybean soup was nice to sip a spoonful of every so often 🥄

The seasoned fish roe was salty and addictive, and the gungchae had a crisp texture that woke up my appetite.

Gopchang gim (seasoned laver) also came out, and it was delicious even eaten plain.

Here's the gochujang (red chili paste) and egg yolk to mix into the yukhoe bibimbap — the gochujang came in a separate small dish, so I could adjust the amount to my taste!

Summer-only pollock yukhoe mulhoe: somyeon noodles first, rice after
The pollock yukhoe mulhoe is Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch's summer-only menu item, priced at 16,000 won. The ingredients looked fresh from the moment it arrived.

There are thin noodles inside, so I mixed everything evenly. The textures of each ingredient came together well, and one bite blew away the summer heat 🌀

I ate the noodles first, then mixed in rice too — the tangy, cold broth kept me slurping it up without stopping.

Rather than a bold, punchy flavor, it felt more like the ingredients came together naturally!

Yukhoe bibimbap wrapped in gopchang gim
Hyangtaek Jeonpo Branch's yukhoe bibimbap is 14,000 won, with the colors of the vegetables and raw beef stacked up nicely.

The yukhoe piled generously on top of the rice looked so appetizing it really got my mouth watering •﹃•

Just mix in the gochujang and egg yolk that come alongside it 〰︎︎

It had a mild yet savory flavor, so I think it'd be great to bring parents here too!

The combination with gopchang gim was so good that the laver disappears in no time.

I finished it off properly, piling a spoonful of yukhoe bibimbap and some seasoned fish roe onto gopchang gim. It felt like the natural flavors of the ingredients were allowed to shine, making it easy to eat without feeling heavy. If you're looking for a Jeonpo-dong restaurant, come try Hyangtaek for a neat, satisfying meal!
