I went on a perfume-making date with my boyfriend at Scent Perfume Workshop (센트향수공방), a perfume workshop in Daejeon :) We'd made perfume at a workshop before and have been using it like a couple's scent, but it's almost gone, so we went back to make new memories! The owner is friendly and explains everything carefully, so we came away with a really fun memory. Let's take a look!

Scent Perfume Workshop is in Sharkzone in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, and you can use the Sharkzone car park. The entrance, exit and the space itself are very wide, which was convenient. The address says B187, but we parked on the 2nd floor, went down to the 1st floor and found the shop!

What classes does Scent Perfume Workshop offer?

Scent Perfume Workshop runs a range of classes, from the luxury-TYPE perfume class to a custom perfume one-day class. Couples like us often come for a date, mixing different fragrance oils to make a perfume. We arrived about 5 minutes before our booking and the owner welcomed us warmly. It's a clean workshop, and even with so many kinds of fragrance oils, everything was neatly organized.

We did the review event, tried luxury perfumes in person and got samples. My boyfriend and I don't know much about luxury perfume, so we just sniffed around and picked. There are so many kinds!

You can pick the bottle and cap yourself too

At Scent Perfume Workshop you can choose the empty bottle for your perfume, from the bottle to the cap, entirely to your taste. Being able to pick the bottle design as well as the scent was a plus. The whole process showed the owner's thoughtful care.

What are the steps for making perfume?

Perfume making at Scent Perfume Workshop starts with smelling the top, middle and last (base) notes yourself and finding the ones you like. The owner explained the process and also served us snacks and juice!

We smelled so many scents that the scent strips piled up~~ My boyfriend sniffed the apricot and peach scents, loved them, and said, "Oh, so I like fruity scents?" as he figured out his taste.

Blending ratios with the owner in 2 rounds

Once you've chosen your scents, you combine them with the owner: the one you liked best, the one you want to come through most, and so on. We did it in 2 rounds with different ratios. I added a bit more of the scent I like, and the owner gave feedback again as we adjusted the ratio, and the result really felt matched to each person's taste. I was totally satisfied with this part!

How long does perfume making at Scent Perfume Workshop take?

My boyfriend and I are fairly quick deciders, so 1 hour was enough! Recording memories while making perfume was so much fun.

Last step: decorating the bottle with stickers

The final step of the perfume we made together, chatting away, is decorating. There are neat lettering stickers, cute character stickers, initials and more, so even this part was fun.

Each of us just sticks on the stickers we like and we're done~~ Since ours are couple perfumes, we made the designs similar. You can customize it however you like and the scent comes out to your own taste, which I loved.
