Siheung restaurant: cuttlefish pork belly for 3 generations, Jogane
In short
Jogane Gabojingeo Mulwang Hosu Branch (조가네갑오징어 물왕호수점) is a cuttlefish restaurant that occupies an entire building in front of Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung, Gyeonggi. The writer took their parents and a baby, ordered cuttlefish pork belly at the kiosk, wrapped the big pieces of cuttlefish and pork belly in perilla leaves, then had coffee on the 1st floor. With a large parking lot, seaweed soup for the baby and after-meal coffee all in one building, Jogane Gabojingeo is an easy choice for a lunch with parents.

I wanted to take my parents somewhere spicy but different from what we usually eat, and it turned out there's Jogane Gabojingeo (cuttlefish restaurant) at Mulwang Reservoir! I'd only ever had stir-fried octopus or webfoot octopus, so going out for stir-fried cuttlefish was a first for me!

Is parking easy at Jogane Gabojingeo Mulwang Hosu Branch?
Just search the address, 40 Dongseo-ro 811beon-gil, Siheung-si, and you'll find it. There's a big parking lot right next to the restaurant, so you can park without worrying! Parking around Mulwang-ri is a real battle, but this is a large place, so we got in relaxed!

Jogane Gabojingeo layout and opening hours
Jogane Mulwang Hosu Branch is open daily from 10:30 to 21:00, until 22:00 on weekends only, and there's no break time! The whole building is Jogane! We ate on the 2nd floor, but the 3rd floor has another huge dining room too! And you can have a simple coffee on the 1st floor, so lunch and café in one go. I think that made it a really good-value lunch!

When we walked into the 2nd floor, it was incredibly packed! They also sell snacks for kids and adults, yakgwa (traditional honey cookies) and so on, so buy some if you like~ Lots of older folks come to Mulwang Lake, so the snacks seem popular!

Why cuttlefish pork belly instead of cuttlefish bulgogi?
You order what you want at a kiosk. I was about to order the standard cuttlefish bulgogi, but my parents love pork belly, so I got the cuttlefish pork belly instead! It cost a bit extra, but I think it was tastier! And looking at the tables around us, lots of people had ordered the pancake too!

Self-serve bar and seaweed soup: eating with a baby
Jogane sets out side dishes by default, and there's a self-bar too, so you can help yourself to whatever you like. You can also get extra seaweed soup, so there was something for the baby, which was great! We added 2 bowls of rice, and you should have seen how well the baby ate with rice mixed into the soup, haha! It was a bit hectic because of the crowd, but I figured that's what you get at a popular place, and we enjoyed our meal!

How does the cuttlefish pork belly taste, and how big is the portion?
When the cuttlefish pork belly came out, all those thick, big pieces are cuttlefish! It was really big! You have to cut it into about 3 pieces to eat it! Every table has scissors and tongs, so you never have to call a staff member, which was nice!

Perilla leaves are unlimited refills, so it was great for wraps, and there's even a note on how to eat it deliciously, saying it's good wrapped with seasoned bean sprouts! I just popped in the pork and cuttlefish, and it was lightly spicy and really good!

Coffee on the 1st floor after a family lunch
The highlight of Jogane Mulwang Hosu Branch is the coffee, haha! Head down to the 1st floor and there's a spacious area with chairs and tables, where you brew your own coffee, and there are even ice cups, so there's no need to go to a separate café. Loved it!

If you want a good meal with your parents like we did, go to Jogane Gabojingeo at Mulwang Lake! Really recommended! Next time I'm going to try the pancake too!
