Family after-dinner brewpub by Daecheon Beach: wings, Daecheon Brewery

In short

Daecheon Brewery is a brewery and pub in Daecheon, Boryeong, Chungnam, serving its own house-brewed craft beer and wood-fired pizza. After a family dinner, the writer stopped by Daecheon Brewery for wings, gorgonzola pizza and a frozen pineapple dessert with draft beer, then sampled Ohcheon Porter, a dark beer said to have won a silver medal at a liquor competition, through a receipt-review event. With its atmosphere, food and photo spots all satisfying, Daecheon Brewery is worth recommending as the last stop of a Boryeong trip.

Is Daecheon Brewery a good last stop on a Boryeong trip?

Daecheon Brewery (대천브루어리) is a brewery pub in Daecheon, Boryeong, where you can drink craft beer brewed on site. On a Boryeong trip it's easy to think only of seafood or meat, but if you want to end the trip with a beer in a nice setting, I'd recommend this place.

My family dropped in after dinner, and the atmosphere was much prettier than I expected, so we took lots of photos and had a relaxed time. It's an easy addition to a Daecheon itinerary and a good stop on the way back from Daecheon Beach.

Daecheon Brewery exterior: best visited around sunset

Thanks to the palm trees and warm lighting, the exterior felt like an overseas resort. Visiting around sunset, as the lights came on one by one, made the mood much better than in daytime.

Parking was easy, and there are so many good photo spots from the front door that I found myself picking up the camera without thinking.

What is the Daecheon Brewery interior like?

Inside, a wide, open space spreads out around a central bar table. Wood interiors and green plants blend well, so it felt like a resort pub.

The lighting isn't overdone, so photos come out nicely, and the mood suits both dates and family visits.

Cosmetics and souvenirs made with Boryeong mud are also on display, so you can browse or buy a keepsake.

If you're looking for an unusual date spot in Boryeong, I think you'd be happy here. The photos came out so pretty that posting them on social media was satisfying too.

Daecheon Brewery craft beer: noticeably fresh

Daecheon Brewery sells beer it brews itself. You can choose from various styles to suit your taste, and bottled beer is available too, which is great for taking home.

The dark beer, Ohcheon Porter (오천포터), even won a silver medal at a liquor competition. I liked that I could carry the Boryeong mood home after the trip. The beer had that fresh flavor and went well with the food.

Wings and gorgonzola pizza: better than expected

My family ordered wings and gorgonzola pizza together. Honestly, we don't usually eat seasoned fried chicken, apart from old-style whole fried chicken (tongdak), but the wings here were different.

The sauce isn't too harsh and has a good savory depth, so we kept reaching for more.

Crispy outside and juicy inside, they went really well with beer. The pizza was good too. Heavily sauced styles tend to get tiring, so I ordered the gorgonzola, and its moderate saltiness and nutty richness made it easy to eat.

A great menu to enjoy with beer.

Frozen pineapple dessert to finish

The pineapple dessert I ordered at the end was impressive too. Frozen pineapple was our regular pick whenever we went camping.

Chilled and frozen, it was perfect for cooling off in summer heat, and sweet yet clean, a good way to finish the meal.

Ohcheon Porter sampler from the receipt-review event

One draft beer felt a little short, and while I wondered whether to order another, I spotted the receipt-review event. I ordered the dark beer as a sampler and tried it.

The dark beer that won silver, Ohcheon Porter: oh, it's delicious! I should have drunk this instead. Next time, definitely the Ohcheon Porter.

Daecheon Brewery bottled beer: a good travel gift?

I bought a few bottles of Daecheon Brewery beer and brought them home. Drinking them again after the trip let me feel the lingering memory of the journey, which I liked.
