What kind of place is Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch?
Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch is a Thai and Vietnamese restaurant tuned to Korean tastes, near the government complex and Lake Park in Eojin-dong, Sejong. It has rich-broth pho and a real local feel, but the spices aren't overwhelming, so I'd recommend it for a lunch or a family meal.
It's very close to the Sejong Government Complex, public offices and Lake Park. From what I saw, it gets packed with office workers at weekday lunch, so keep that in mind!
Mekong Thai opening hours and parking
Mekong Thai is open 10:30 to 21:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00 and last order at 20:40. It's open year-round, including weekends and holidays, and if you park in the Sejong March basement and register your parking, you get 2 hours free.

It's on the 3rd floor of the Sejong March building, next to Gyukatsu Jeong and Bapkkot Hansang.
What are the atmosphere and seating like?

Doesn't the lighting alone remind you of Thailand and Vietnam? Lots of families here.

The seating is roomy, and there's a group table too. It looks like it could easily seat 16.

The whole room. I like that the kitchen is somewhat open.
Does the Mekong Thai menu have both Thai and Vietnamese food?

Mains and side dishes. The shrimp pencil spring rolls look so good..

So many kinds of pho! There's spicy pho, and nasi goreng, mie goreng and pretty much every local dish you can think of.

The menu is varied. It seems to have both Thai and Vietnamese dishes, but the name is Mekong "Thai", so I got curious and looked it up...
Mekong Thai is a casual restaurant where you can taste the food of both Vietnam and Thailand, and enjoy the best of Asian cooking.
So it really is a place where you can have both Thai and Vietnamese food!
The three dishes we ordered for two, and their prices

From the left: pad thai ₩14,900, Thai red curry ₩14,900 and beef pho ₩12,900.

A perfect portion for one person.
How is the Thai red curry? Loaded with chicken and mushrooms, a rice thief

First up, the Thai red curry (₩14,900). I love that thick, buttery, egg-swirled curry that's so typical of Thai food.

The spices weren't overpowering, and the buttery aroma was sweetish and delicious. The thing in the middle that looks like a pine mushroom is actually chicken! There was a ton of chicken.

There were lots of mushrooms too, so I kept picking at them. This sauce is a rice thief (a dish that makes you keep eating rice)... Creamy, with a deep curry aroma, though it can get a little heavy near the end, so I cleansed my palate with the pho. (Pho coming up below)
How was the pad thai? The best of the three dishes

Pad thai (₩14,900), which I always order at Thai and Vietnamese restaurants! I could see bean sprouts, ground peanuts, bok choy, shrimp, beef and more.

I mixed it well, squeezed on lemon and tried it, and wow, this one's the best! The seasoning is just right, and the fish sauce smell isn't too strong, so it's the kind of dish that suits Korean tastes easily.

The sauce soaks into the noodles so well that they're tasty even on their own, and with so many toppings it felt pretty healthy. I'd order it again next time.
How's the beef pho broth? Rich and clear meat broth

Beef pho, ₩12,900. It's generously topped with scallions and onions. The meat broth is rich and clear.

Inside are flat rice noodles and plenty of bean sprouts. When I sipped the broth, it wasn't the typical pho broth, but tasted a bit different. I could taste a new kind of spice, but it wasn't strong, so I enjoyed it.

Loads of meat too. The price is good and it tastes great, so I'd probably order a soup dish again next time.
Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch: the verdict
Two of us went, ate three dishes and were so full at Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch. From pho to pad thai to nasi goreng, you get lots of variety, and I'll vouch for it as a reliable, tasty spot! If you want a hearty meal in an exotic atmosphere, I recommend a visit! 🍜✨
