Block 116 away-seat view, mango bingsu truck at Jamsil: Bingdongdaeng

In short

Bingdongdaeng Premium Bingsu Café is a bingsu (Korean shaved ice) food truck by Outfield Ticket Gate 1 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Songpa, Seoul. Before a Tuesday evening game, a Hanwha fan bought the Bingdongdaeng mango bingsu and cream shrimp from the next truck and ate them in the third-base away seats, Block 116, row 7. The mango bingsu was enough for two and barely melted, so it is a recommended summer ballpark snack at 4.0/5.0.

Where is the Bingdongdaeng food truck at Jamsil Stadium?

The Bingdongdaeng Premium Bingsu Café truck is a 5-minute walk from Sports Complex Station Exit 5. Head straight toward the third-base outfield of Jamsil Baseball Stadium and it is one of 3 food trucks lined up there. I went on a Tuesday at 6 pm, and it was less crowded than Jamsil One Shot, which sits right in front of the station entrance.

Even in May, ballparks get quite hot for day games or early evening games. Once you start cheering, a drink alone often isn't enough. This time I found a bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert) food truck at Jamsil Stadium where you can cool down, so I went to check it out.

Famous for eating, the team's Meoksan mascots are going with an eating concept. Tearing into food is so cute! This is Onion Kungya, who threw out today's first pitch.

The place we went for snacks is the Jamsil Stadium food truck area you reach by walking straight into the third-base outfield. Searching for good food at Jamsil Stadium brings up a huge number of options, but I was looking for something cold, which is how I ended up here.

Why I chose bingsu over chicken as a ballpark snack

Honestly, the biggest worry when you go to a baseball game in summer is the heat. Chicken is what most people eat, but the chicken sold in front of ballparks is all dry, stiff meat, so I'm not a fan. But there was a Bingdongdaeng truck selling bingsu, so I happily ran over.

When you buy bingsu at Bingdongdaeng, they serve it in a container like this, which was easy to carry around. A bit farther along there is also a hot dog food truck. Oddly, more people were at the hot dog truck than at the bingsu truck. I guess it's because hot dogs are easier to eat.

I wandered around for a long time looking for the bingsu truck at first, but it is right next to Burgery.

This is the national anthem ceremony before the game started. It's a moment full of that special ballpark excitement, so it's always my favorite time personally.

How is the view from Block 116, row 7 at Jamsil Stadium?

Block 116, row 7 at Jamsil Stadium is on the third-base side. The players were easy to see, the view was good, and there were no bugs. I'm a Hanwha fan, so I sat in the away seats, and if you're an away team visiting Jamsil, I'd absolutely recommend this spot.

Thankfully, an acquaintance of my girlfriend got the seats for us, which is how I got to watch from here.

Does Bingdongdaeng mango bingsu melt during the game?

The Bingdongdaeng mango bingsu barely melted while we ate it during the game, and the portion was enough for 2 people. I actually hesitated a lot at first about whether to get bingsu, worried it would melt, but I think it held up because the ice isn't just water; it seems to be mixed with milk too.

I couldn't believe this much food came at this price. They didn't skimp on the mango either, and poured it on generously, which I loved.

Where can you buy cream shrimp at Jamsil Stadium?

The cream shrimp food truck at Jamsil Stadium is right next to the Bingdongdaeng bingsu truck, so we bought it too. Cream shrimp is a must-eat at the ballpark, and I'd been looking for where it was sold, and it happened to be next to the bingsu truck.

What stood out was that the cream was slightly spicy, so I didn't get sick of it. There were also nachos underneath, which was nice.

That day was a feast for the Doosan Bears. They sing "Bravo My Life" on the Doosan side, and it always sounds like such a good song. Even though we lost the game, I was really glad we at least scored 1 run.

Final verdict: 4.0 / 5.0 by Baek Seonsaeng's standards

If you're looking for a cool summer snack at Jamsil Stadium, Bingdongdaeng is well worth recommending. The mango bingsu portion was generous, and it didn't melt as fast as I expected, so it was great to enjoy while watching the game. When people think of ballpark food, chicken or beer come to mind first, but on a sweltering day I think bingsu is also a pretty good choice.

  • Recommended summer snack at Jamsil Stadium
  • Generous mango bingsu portion
  • Bingsu that melts less than expected
  • Goes well with cream shrimp
  • A dessert that's great to enjoy while watching a game live

If you're looking for something cold to eat at Jamsil Stadium, this food truck is worth a stop.
