Jokbal restaurant near Jamsil ballpark: medium and rice balls, Manjok
In short
Manjok Ohyang Jokbal Jamsil Sincheon Branch is a five-spice jokbal (braised pig's trotters) restaurant near Jamsil Saenae Station in Songpa, Seoul, a short walk from Jamsil Baseball Stadium. Before a baseball game, the writer had the medium Manjok Ohyang Jokbal (₩39,000) with self-serve rice balls, and the complimentary rice cake dumpling soup and tangy cabbage made the meal even more filling. Manjok Ohyang Jokbal is a solid place to fill up before or after a game at Jamsil.

I came to Jamsil Saenae to watch a baseball game, and before heading into the stadium I wanted jokbal (braised pig's trotters). So I went to Manjok Ohyang Jokbal Jamsil Sincheon Branch (만족오향족발 잠실신천점), a famous jokbal place in Jamsil Saenae. Manjok Ohyang is known as one of Seoul's top three jokbal restaurants, and I heard it has been picked for the Michelin Guide Seoul Bib Gourmand seven years in a row, so I went in with confidence.

What are the interior and seating like at Manjok Ohyang Jokbal?

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the wide, open space. The restroom is inside the restaurant too, which is handy.

Each table has a partition, so even though the tables are close together, you can eat comfortably without worrying about the people next to you.

You can also remove the partitions, so it looks great for group meals. It seemed especially good for everyone to share a meal after a baseball game.

There are lots of seats further inside too. Baby chairs are available, so it's also a good place to come with kids.
Manjok Ohyang Jokbal menu and prices

The signature dish is Manjok Ohyang Jokbal (five-spice jokbal): medium ₩39,000, large ₩44,000, extra large ₩60,000. The fire jokbal (직화불족, ₩41,000) is famous too, so half-and-half jokbal is popular, and they sell bossam (boiled pork wraps) as well.

Free rice cake dumpling soup, side dishes and cabbage

Manjok Ohyang brings out rice cake and dumpling soup (tteok-mandu-guk) by default. It comes in a pot, the portion is generous, and the broth is clean and tasty, the kind you keep going back to.

The side dishes are a simple set that goes well with jokbal. They keep you going through the slightly rich trotters, and between wrapping it this way and that way, I'd finished all the jokbal before I knew it.

And the cabbage was my favorite. It comes with a sauce, it's tangy, and I kept getting refills. Cabbage is good for you anyway, so I happily ate loads.
How does the medium Manjok Ohyang Jokbal (₩39,000) taste, and how big is it?
The medium jokbal is ₩39,000, and the portion was big enough to leave two people really full. The signature medium Manjok Ohyang Jokbal had a glossy shine that made my mouth water before I even took a bite.

The lean meat wasn't dry at all, so it was easy to enjoy. The tender, soft parts in particular were so smooth and chewy that I kept reaching for more. Even though it's the medium, the portion was huge, and two people would end up properly stuffed. Every jokbal place has its own charm, and Manjok Ohyang's is that soft, tender texture.
Self-serve rice balls (₩4,000) with the dumpling soup broth

I also ordered the self-serve rice balls (jumeokbap) as a side. You squish and shape them yourself. With seaweed flakes, pickled radish and mayonnaise, they went nicely with the dumpling soup broth.
A jokbal restaurant in Jamsil Saenae for before or after a baseball game
Manjok Ohyang Jokbal Jamsil Sincheon Branch is right next to the Jamsil baseball stadium, so I saw loads of people in baseball cheering gear. The day I visited was a game day, so there were especially many baseball fans.
It was a great restaurant to stop by before or after a game. I recommend filling up properly before heading off to the baseball.
