What is a Cupnuke (lying-down cupcake cake)?

A Cupnuke (컵눕케) is a cake shaped like a cupcake lying on its side. Have you all heard of it? While looking for a cake to celebrate my little girl's monthly milestone, I found Lala's Cake and learned about the Cupnuke there. (So this was trending without me knowing... am I just getting old again? haha)

Lala's Cake is near Wirye Lake Park, and on the way you can also see the tram running through Wirye, which was a nice bonus haha

What to tell Lala's Cake when reserving a Cupnuke

I contacted them a day ahead and booked my Cupnuke. Here are the 5 things you need to tell them when reserving.

They also have a wide range of birthday candles, so it's a good place to buy one if you suddenly need it!

What cakes does Lala's Cake make?

The cakes at Lala's Cake include the Cupnuke, champagne-glass flower cake, sold-out cake, mini cake, box letter cake and gugelhupf cake. I'd never seen a gugelhupf cake before, and it feels trendy and cute at the same time!

Every cake is so pretty, sob. I went with the Cupnuke this time, but next time I want to order the champagne-glass cake or the gugelhupf cake. Anniversaries are things you can just make up... an anniversary is only an excuse to eat cake^^

Picking up the cake at the flower shop Lala Flower

Lala's Cake works together with a flower shop called Lala Flower (라라플라워), so you pick up the cake at the flower shop. There seemed to be a bouquet order, as one was already wrapped, and the flowers were so pretty haha. I loved the pastel and pink tones haha. It would be great for buying flowers and a cake together on an anniversary.

The shop is packed with fresh flowers, so just looking around is fun. I saw that Lala's Cake can also make fresh flower cakes, and since they run a flower shop too, I bet those are stunning〰️〰️〰️

I arrived at my reserved time and got the cake right away~ They don't charge extra for the bag, which I liked haha. The cake needs to go straight into the fridge.

3-tier Cupnuke price and design

The 3-tier Cupnuke at Lala's Cake is ₩38,000. Such a lovely cake haha. I'm a chocolate lover, so I asked for chocolate sponge with pink accents. Blackpink🖤🩷

Such a lovely cake•••💖 They put in two candles, a teddy bear candle and a heart candle, and the ribbon accents here and there are so lovely. The marshmallow accent is super cute too•••

They describe it as a handmade cake based on 100% animal-based fresh cream and top-quality cream cheese, baked from the genoise sponge up, and it was so delicious, just like the description••🩷

How to store and eat a fresh cream Cupnuke

Since the Cupnuke is a fresh cream cake, the cream goes soft and floppy when warm, and it firms up when refrigerated. At first the cream was firm, and as time passed I could feel it getting softer.

If you like firm cream, I recommend eating it cold~ Personally, I think cream tastes best when you bite right into it haha

So the cupcake doesn't collapse, the back of the cake is held in place with cream cheese, and just like the description says about top-quality cream cheese, it was so good? I was amazed by the cream cheese again...

How did the Lala's Cake Cupnuke taste?

The Cupnuke from Lala's Cake had firm sponge and firm cream, and I enjoyed it so much. Look at these bite marks I took, lol. The combination of fresh cream, sponge and cream cheese was very satisfying.

Also, because the cake is divided into pieces, it was easy to eat piece by piece hygienically, and it would make a perfect snack for a group too. I told myself one piece a day, but when I come to my senses I'm eating two a day.. haha

If you're looking for an anniversary cake or lettering cake in Songpa, I highly recommend Lala's Cake!
