Busan Station noodle restaurant for a daytime beer lunch: Yeongdong

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap is a milmyeon (chewy wheat-and-buckwheat noodle) and dwaeji gukbap (pork soup) restaurant a 3-minute walk from Exit 7 of Busan Station in Dong-gu, Busan. Straight off the KTX, a couple made Yeongdong their first meal in Busan, ordering bibim milmyeon (small) at 8,000 won, sundae gukbap at 10,000 won and 10 dumplings at 7,000 won with a bottle of Terra beer for a daytime drink. Even a diner whose first milmyeon was a letdown found Yeongdong's slightly snappy noodles worth rewriting that memory.

Hongdae Korean BBQ with a reserved window table: Gogikkun Gimchunbae

Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant serving hanwoo beef and Korean pork in a red-brick building along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo, Seoul. Reserved through Naver for a quick meal before work with a senior coworker, the window table came with the beef and pork set for two, 600g for 109,000 won, plus half-and-half naengmyeon (cold noodles) for 7,000 won, and staff grilled the beef skirt, pork neck and short rib from start to finish so the conversation never stopped. Even for a short, alcohol-free lunch, Gogikkun Gimchunbae was a satisfying Hongdae Korean BBQ stop.
