Busan Station noodle restaurant for a daytime beer lunch: Yeongdong

Yeongdong Milmyeon is a milmyeon (chewy buckwheat noodle) and dwaeji gukbap (pork bone soup) restaurant just a 5-minute walk from Busan Station KTX! Their bibim milmyeon (small) is 8,000 won, sundae gukbap is 10,000 won, and dumplings come 10 for 7,000 won. Let me give you an honest review of Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap, which kicked off our Busan trip :)

The moment we got off the KTX at Busan Station we were starving and debating what to eat, when my husband said, come to Busan, you've got to have milmyeon and gukbap! But my first milmyeon experience had been a flop, so I hadn't touched it since — trying again felt weirdly intimidating. Still, after a storm of searching I found what looked like a genuinely great milmyeon spot and we headed to Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap.

Would it actually work out this time!?!

How to walk from Busan Station to Yeongdong, and what the restaurant is like

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap sits across from Busan Station, just a 3-minute walk (144m) from Exit 7, so it was really easy to find even while dragging our suitcases. We got there around 11:30am on a weekday and the dining room was already about half full.

Located a 5-minute walk across from Busan Station, Yeongdong Milmyeon was really easy to find.

If you're tight on time before a train, there's apparently a new branch inside Busan Station itself, so that might be a good option too!

Walking in, we saw celebrity autographs covering the walls. It really felt like a proper local favorite — around 11:30 it was half full, but by past noon, even on a weekday, it was nearly packed!

It looked like they'd remodeled — the interior was really clean and pleasant, and they gave us a generous spread of side dishes too: diced radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, chives, and more.

What we ordered at Yeongdong and what it cost

On this day, what we ordered was:

• Bibim milmyeon (small) ₩8,000
• Sundae gukbap ₩10,000
• Dumplings (10 pcs) ₩7,000

Plus a Terra beer and a Coke!

Day drinking starting at lunch? That's what a trip's for — a daytime beer :)

Every table had vinegar, mustard, chili paste (dadaegi), salted shrimp, and pepper, so we could adjust the flavor to our own taste.

Sundae gukbap and 10 dumplings: Busan-sized portions

Yeongdong's sundae gukbap at 10,000 won had rich broth with no fishy or gamey taste even without adding chili paste. The dumplings came 10 to an order for 7,000 won, plenty for the two of us.

The sundae gukbap arrived first, and we wanted to taste it plain before adding any dadaegi!

The pork had absolutely no gamey taste and the broth was rich and delicious.

Later I stirred in a bit of dadaegi for a spicier kick, and that gave it a whole different charm too><

The dumplings came out a whopping 10 pieces. In Seoul you usually get about 6 with an order — the generous Busan portions,,, 👍🏻

Eating the warm dumplings alongside the sundae gukbap was really filling. The sundae (blood sausage) in the gukbap was also great dipped in ssamjang, savory and chewy.

Is the sweet-and-spicy bibim milmyeon worth it? The noodles won me over

Yeongdong's bibim milmyeon (small) is 8,000 won, and the sauce was sweet yet spicier than I expected. The noodles weren't chewy like jjolmyeon, but had a slightly snappy texture like buckwheat noodles.

Next the bibim milmyeon arrived, and the sauce was genuinely delicious. Sweet yet spicier than expected — a well-balanced combination, I'd say.

I have a memory of eating jjolmyeon on a solo trip to Busan once that was so chewy it was a bit disappointing. This time, Yeongdong's noodles matched my taste perfectly, letting me rewrite my memory of milmyeon into a good one.

Choosing Yeongdong Milmyeon as our first meal after arriving at Busan Station turned out to be a great call! Being able to order easily via tablet was a nice touch, and since there's now a Busan Station branch too, it's a good option when you're pressed for train time!
