Songdo Korean restaurant: dak-gomtang and free kimchi refills, Eonyang
In short
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is a chicken kalguksu and dak-gomtang (chicken soup) restaurant about a 10-minute walk from Songdo Central Park in Incheon. After a pasta-and-pizza day out, the writer and her husband had two bowls of dak-gomtang (₩11,000 each) with half a chicken in a perilla broth, then refilled the kimchi in a big bowl. The daily-made kimchi alone makes it worth a return trip.

A Songdo dak-gomtang and dak kalguksu spot. It's at 160-15 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon (1st floor), open daily 11:00–21:00, and what stands out is the great value and the unbelievably good kimchi.

Why Eonyang Dak Kalguksu after a pasta day in Songdo?
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch (언양닭칼국수 인천송도점) is where my husband and I went for an early dinner on a weekend trip to Songdo last weekend. It had been a while since we'd been out there, so we kicked things off with pasta and pizza,, and it was definitely tasty, but by the afternoon I was craving Korean food so badly ;
You know the feeling, right..? (Maybe it's just me.) So we were talking about wanting a rich broth and kimchi for dinner, and we suddenly dropped into this place, "Eonyang Dak Kalguksu." Honestly, we were both done with noodles,, like, let's just have rice for dinner! We both got dak-gomtang, and the broth was great,, but the most important thing, the kimchi, was just so good.
Where is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch?
It's about a 10-minute walk from Songdo Central Park! The interior is so shiny and fresh it looks like it just opened (?)

Inside, atmosphere and busy times
The inside is rea~lly spacious! And it needs to be: my husband and I came early, like a late-lunch-slash-dinner, so it was still quiet, but Songdo has tons of cram schools (hagwon), you know..? About halfway through our meal, students from the nearby hagwon area poured in like crazy.

Really feeling the power of the Songdo hagwon district.. There's an international high school here too,, so it's clearly no ordinary hagwon area.

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu menu and prices
The menu has three main items: dak kalguksu, dak-gomtang and Eonyang-style kalguksu haha. Basically you choose between dak kalguksu or dak-gomtang, and if you think, no chicken needed, I'm fine with just noodles! then go for the Eonyang-style kalguksu~!
- Dak kalguksu (chicken noodle soup) ₩11,000 - Eonyang-style kalguksu topped with a bowl-sized half chicken
- Dak-gomtang (chicken soup) ₩11,000 - half a chicken and warm rice in a nutty, perilla-based chicken broth
- Eonyang-style kalguksu ₩8,000 - chewy house-made noodles in a nutty, perilla-based chicken broth

Next time I want to try the Eonyang-style kalguksu with its generous perilla broth haha. Some people might find perilla alone a bit plain, but with this place's kimchi, what is there to fear..
Why the kimchi at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu is so good
The kimchi here is sooo good,, and no wonder: they reportedly make the geotjeori (fresh, salad-style kimchi) by hand every morning with domestic cabbage~! Another special thing is that even the regular kimchi is a little spicy!

But for all the people these days who are obsessed with spice (?), the owner also made an extra-spicy kimchi.

This is the regular kimchi haha. Even the regular one is a teeny bit spicy! But even though I can't handle spice, it was deliciously spicy, and honestly this geotjeori is the kind everyone will love haha.

Two bowls of dak-gomtang: is it really a whole half chicken?
We both ordered the dak-gomtang (₩11,000). Ta-da~! After eating pasta since morning, we were desperately craving Korean food, so we both ordered the dak-gomtang with rice :)

Just like the menu says, a whole half chicken really is in there..? And at first my husband brought the kimchi in a tiny little dish,, but after one bite we both loved it so much that we said forget the tiny dish, let's get a big bowl~! and refilled it that way.

Honey,, what's this tiny dish supposed to be good for~ (it wouldn't even cover a nostril)

I'll say it two, three times: the kimchi here is so good!

A restaurant near Songdo Central Park worth returning to?
Thanks to the kimchi, even just scooping up plain rice and putting a spoonful of kimchi on top was amazing.. It hit the spot for a Korean-food lover like me,, next time I come to Songdo Central Park, I'm coming here instead of one of those vibey brunch pasta places! Honestly, I wanted to buy the kimchi and take it home,,
To finish, here's a photo of Central Park, where we stopped for a walk after eating :)
