Songpa coffee shop: nutty, non-sour Notte beans at Wunder Coffee Bar

In short

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch is a bar-style coffee shop in the basement-level (B1) food court of Hyundai Outlet Garden5 near Jangji Station in Songpa, Seoul. On a weekday lunch date, a couple ordered a Wundergato + americano set and a hot Wunder Coffee (cream latte) made with the Notte blend beans, then tried the signature hojicha soft serve cone. For anyone who dislikes sour coffee, Wunder Coffee Bar's pleasantly nutty Notte beans make it a coffee stop worth recommending after a meal at Garden5.

Where is Wunder Coffee Bar at Garden5?

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch is in the B1 food court of Hyundai Outlet Garden5, 66 Chungmin-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul. My husband and I had planned a weekday lunch date, and after an early lunch in the Garden5 food court we were craving coffee, so we stopped by.

Just from the photos on the wall, the shop in the Garden5 B1 food court looked like no ordinary coffee spot. It had been a while since I'd visited a coffee bar!

Is there seating at Wunder Coffee Bar?

The Garden5 branch is a neat, bar-style café with no tables inside. Instead, there are several tables nearby for food court visitors. It really was a bar, just like the name says, so we got our drinks to go and ate at those tables. Lots of other people were bringing their coffee over there too.

Which coffee beans does Wunder Coffee Bar use?

There are two kinds of beans: Maron, a decaf, and Notte, a regular blend. Since we'd only just finished lunch, we went with the regular Notte.

Three coffees for two: what we ordered

We ordered the Wundergato + americano set and a hot Wunder Coffee (a cream latte). The menu descriptions were nicely detailed. My husband doesn't usually like sweet things, but he really wanted to try the Wundergato, so he ordered the set and ate the whole thing himself. I got the Wunder Coffee, the cream latte, hot.

When we visit a famous café, we have to try the signature, so naturally two of us ordered three coffees.

I was curious about the matcha Einspänner too, but four drinks seemed like way too much, so we stuck with three. Also, I needed my caffeine 😅

Wunder Coffee Bar soft serve cones: good for kids?

The Garden5 Hyundai Outlet branch also sells soft serve cones separately. It seemed nice that kids would have something to eat too if you bring them along!

You can choose from three ice cream flavors. Hojicha (roasted green tea) is the signature, so I ordered that one!

Notte bean coffee vs chain cafés: how does it taste?

The Notte coffee had no sourness and was pleasantly nutty, definitely tastier than the chain coffee I usually drink. The Garden5 Hyundai Outlet shop was also really clean and well kept. I commute on weekdays, so I mostly drink Starbucks or A Twosome Place coffee, and on weekends I have coffee at the Lotte lounge in Jamsil.

Wunder Coffee Bar coffee enjoyed at a shared table

Wunder Coffee Bar's coffee was definitely much better. And the prices are actually similar, you know? We both dislike sour coffee, so the pleasantly nutty flavor was perfect, and the hojicha ice cream was really rich too. It was so intense that we couldn't help giving it a thumbs up.

The bitterness of the beans together with the hojicha ice cream was sooo good. Of course, my cream latte, the Wunder Coffee, was also super delicious.

Is the hot Wunder Coffee (cream latte) good on a cold day?

The Wunder Coffee cream latte was slightly sweet and bitter even served hot, and I was very happy with it. The weather had suddenly turned cold, so I ordered it hot. I opened the lid once to look. Pretty, right? haha A cream latte really is best when it's cold out.

I don't think anywhere beats Wunder Coffee Bar for an after-meal coffee. Next time we come to the Garden5 food court to eat, I'll definitely stop by Wunder Coffee Bar for coffee! haha I highly recommend this café :)
