Songdo café with cream castella salt bread and a bear cup: Cozy Bear
In short
Cafe Cozy Bear Salt Bread Bakery (Songdo Hagwonga Branch) is a bakery café specializing in salt bread on Haedoji-ro in Songdo, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. On a trip to Songdo, the writer stopped by Cozy Bear for dessert after lunch and ate in with a castella salt bread (₩5,000) and an Americano (₩3,800); the sweet whipped cream and castella against the salty bread made a sweet-and-salty pairing that went well with the coffee. The cute Cozy Bear cup was nice enough to take home as a pen holder, and the writer recommends timing a visit for the 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. salt bread batches.

This is Cozy Bear (코지베어), a salt bread café in Songdo, Incheon.
I took a trip to Songdo in Incheon :) We'd had a delicious lunch, so of course dessert had to happen~ You can't leave the fun of eating out of a trip! There was a salt bread bakery café called Cozy Bear nearby, and I wandered over like I was under a spell. I tried a new salt bread there, so let me tell you about it!
Cozy Bear in Songdo: location, hours and parking
Cozy Bear is at 160-19 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, on the first floor, and it's open daily 09:00–19:00. Parking is available too.
When does the salt bread come out at Cozy Bear?

We've arrived at Cozy Bear in Songdo! It's a café with a clean beige-and-brown look.

Cozy Bear's salt bread comes out twice a day, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. How good must fresh-baked bread be? If you can, time your visit to when the salt bread comes out. You'll be happier eating it warm from the oven :-)

When the weather's nice, enjoying the café on the terrace seems like a good idea too. Weather like this is just perfect.
What kinds of salt bread does Cozy Bear have?

The moment you walk into Cozy Bear, you see all kinds of salt bread! As a salt bread bakery, the variety was huge. And aren't the boxes and paper bags for takeout way too cute? I found myself wanting them for no reason.

The first thing that caught my eye was the castella salt bread! It looked so soft that I mentally claimed it right away. Next to it was the garlic salt bread, and I knew it couldn't possibly taste bad, so my mouth watered on its own.

There's also the mentaiko (pollock roe) salt bread with mentaiko mayo sauce, and the ang-butter (sweet red bean and butter) salt bread made with domestic red beans.

And the plain salt bread and the potato salt bread too! I wanted to buy one of each kind and eat them all.
- Castella salt bread
- Garlic salt bread
- Mentaiko salt bread (mentaiko mayo sauce)
- Ang-butter salt bread (domestic red beans)
- Plain salt bread
- Potato salt bread

By the way, Cozy Bear apparently boils its domestic red beans in-house. Seeing that made me curious about the ang-butter salt bread~

There's a really happy event too. If you take part by writing a Naver review, they give you one salt bread as a freebie :)
Is there enough seating at Cozy Bear?

Cozy Bear in Songdo didn't have many tables to sit at indoors. Luckily, there was a seat for us.
Cozy Bear menu prices: Americano and castella salt bread

This is Cozy Bear's drink menu. You can get decaf coffee for an extra ₩500.
- Americano ₩3,800
- Americano, decaf ₩4,300
- Castella salt bread ₩5,000

Our coffee and salt bread arrived on a tray, and it was so cute and tidy. The Cozy Bear cup design is adorable, and the brown plate matches nicely. What impressed me was that they give you tongs and scissors so you can cut the bread easily. Scissors made it so much more comfortable to cut!

Cozy Bear is totally my taste~ The bear on the cup is holding a whole armful of salt bread. The cup is so pretty that I'm using it as a pen holder at home. It felt like such a waste to use it once and throw it away.
How does Cozy Bear's castella salt bread taste?

The castella salt bread I was so looking forward to! I chose it because it looked incredibly soft.

The castella salt bread is filled with soft fresh cream. Salt bread + fresh cream + castella (Japanese-style sponge cake): don't you feel like it would be delicious even without tasting it? haha

The sweet-and-salty combo is the best. The saltiness of the salt bread comes through over the sweet, nutty cream castella, and it's delicious. It goes really well with cold coffee too~ I was too full to eat more, but I was so curious about the ang-butter salt bread as well. I could guess the taste, but it looked like it would be delicious! If you like salt bread, come to Cozy Bear when the bread comes out~
