Seocho Korean BBQ with bean-powder pork skin dip: Gyodaepae
In short
Gyodaepae is a thin-sliced pork belly (naengsam) restaurant in Seocho, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exit 14 of Gyodae Station. Two friends shared the 500g Gyodaepae set, marked down from 48,000 won to 43,000 won, plus pork skin and 10,000 won yukhoe (beef tartare); the set covers thin-sliced pork neck, chilled pork belly and pork belly, and the kimchi was refilled twice from the self-serve bar. The meat is solid, but the pork skin dipped in roasted soybean powder is what makes Gyodaepae worth the trip.

Where is Gyodaepae? Five minutes from Gyodae Station Exit 14
Today I visited Gyodaepae, a thin-sliced pork belly place near Gyodae Station and Seocho Station. The green sign really caught my eye and it screamed 'good restaurant,' so I walked in — and it was a great call. 🥩

Gyodaepae is a 5-minute walk from Exit 14 of Gyodae Station, so it's not far at all!

The inside has this retro vibe. I arrived around 6pm so I was the very first customer. There are quite a lot of seats, and it seemed like a lot of group parties came in later. I'd recommend it as a company dinner or gathering spot.

The grill was so clean… the moment I saw it I had to take a photo lol

The 500g Gyodaepae set at 43,000 won and 10,000 won yukhoe
I went with a friend and we ordered the Gyodaepae set 500g and pork skin. The set is normally ₩48,000 but was discounted to ₩43,000! Amazing value, right? Checking the origin labels, everything except the beef brisket was domestic. A beer order is a must — we had Terra this time. Pour it up 🍺

Beef tartare for just ₩10,000 too — not just good value, incredible value. 👍🏻 Isn't it perfect as a simple drinking snack?

Side dishes at Gyodaepae: kimchi, bean sprouts, scallion salad and cabbage soup
The basic side dishes at Gyodaepae are kimchi, bean sprouts, scallion salad, and radish salad. That kimchi was the highlight for me 🥹
I was also craving something hot in soup form, and sure enough, warm napa cabbage soup (ugeoji-guk) comes as a basic side too. 🔥 The kind of flavor that soothes your stomach 🔥 It was warm and delicious.

Three cuts in the set: pork neck, chilled pork belly and pork belly
The Gyodaepae set I ordered comes with thin-sliced pork neck, chilled thin-sliced pork belly, and thin-sliced pork belly. The portion was bigger than I expected.

A beer while waiting for the meat to grill 💛

Maybe because the fire was so strong, everything cooked really quickly, so we could keep eating without a break 🤤
There was a red sauce served alongside, and it was genuinely, genuinely delicious. Eating it together with the meat made it never feel greasy — I just kept going back for more … ♥

Self-serve bar for sauces, kimchi and side dish refills
If you run out of sauce or side dishes, you can easily grab more from the self-serve bar at the back.

The kimchi was such a highlight I refilled it twice… it's so good when grilled. I've seen plenty of places with mediocre kimchi, but this one was genuinely delicious — unforgettable.

Pork skin dipped in soybean powder, grilled slowly over low heat
Last up, I ordered pork skin, which I absolutely love. The look of it was a little intimidating at first, ha?

Once it was grilled golden brown, it looked so delicious. It's already seasoned, so if you grill it on high heat it'll burn — grill it on low heat instead.

Dipped in the bean powder that comes with it, it was so nutty and delicious. It's the best pork skin I've ever had. I really hope you order the pork skin — it's a must. I loved eating it with the bean powder, but my friend said she preferred it with the red sauce I mentioned earlier. Try both! 🤤
Naver review freebies and the verdict on Gyodaepae
Pro tip: there's an ongoing event where if you book through Naver Reservations and write a review, you get free cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) and steamed egg. Book, visit, write a review, and get the freebies.
I'd recommend Gyodaepae as a gathering or company dinner spot near Gyodae Station and Seocho Station. I went with a friend, and the meat was such great value and so delicious that we both left stuffed. The meat is great, but the pork skin is the real highlight. You really should try it 🔥
