I spotted this place on my way home and it looked so good I ran back the very next day, haha. Enter Gyodaepae.

Where is Gyodaepae near Gyodae Station?
Gyodaepae is located at 23 Seochodae-ro 48-gil, 1st floor, Seocho-gu, Seoul, right in the heart of the restaurant strip near Gyodae Station, so it's super easy to get to by public transit. The shop looks small but it has that unmistakable 'good restaurant' feel. There were people enjoying the outdoor patio seating and I just couldn't resist the smell!
The cozy yet stylish signage stands out, so you can spot it right away even on your first visit.

Inside Gyodaepae: retro interior and seating
The interior of Gyodaepae was really clean and comfortable, clearly well maintained. None of that stuffy, greasy feeling you sometimes get at BBQ places. It stayed hygienic-feeling the whole meal, haha.
The tables were also spaced generously with comfy seating, so it seemed like a great spot for big work dinners as well as hangouts with friends or a date with your partner!
Gyodaepae menu and how to order
I sat down wherever I liked and checked out the menu, haha.

The menu was written large on the wall so it was easy to scan at a glance, and to actually order you use the tablet on the table! From the signature naengsam (chilled thin-sliced pork) to cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), cold noodles, fried rice — there was a wide variety of dishes.

I'm posting this for reference too — there are sides that aren't even listed on the wall menu!
- Gyodaepae set 500g — ₩43,000
- Truffle jjagyeti (egg soup) — ₩6,000
- Kelly beer — ₩5,000
This is what we ordered!

Side dishes and doenjang jjigae at Gyodaepae
After ordering, they set the table with the basic side dishes — aged kimchi, beansprouts, scallion salad, radish salad, lettuce wraps, garlic, ssamjang, and even doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew).
The doenjang jjigae came out bubbling hot with a seasoning that was just right for cutting through the richness, the kind of flavor that makes you want to mix it with rice, haha.

What comes in the Gyodaepae set 500g?
Next up, the meat we ordered arrived. The Gyodaepae set consists of three cuts — chilled fresh shaved pork belly, chilled fresh shaved pork neck, and shaved pork belly! Great value for getting to try a variety of meats, a set composition I was really satisfied with.

The meat had a bright reddish color that felt fresh. I thought thin-shaved cuts like this would melt away fast, but they cooked slower than expected, haha.

Grilling the thin-sliced pork on the pan
Onto the hot grill it goes~~~~~~~~ Since the shaved pork belly and pork neck are so thin, they cook up fast, which is great! No long wait before you can dig in, haha.

With such a generous full spread, I just waited eagerly for the meat to turn golden brown!

Finally, perfectly cooked meat. It really was nice how fast it cooked, haha. They grilled some garlic alongside it too, and I picked out the best-looking piece of meat, then

dipped it in the sauce that came with it. The sauce was nicely salty and paired well, and since the meat was thin it was easy to chew, savory and full of flavor, haha.

Lettuce wraps with kimchi and bean sprouts grilled on the pan
I like wrapping my meat, so I piled the well-cooked meat onto lettuce or perilla leaves, added plenty of ssamjang and scallion salad, and ate it all in one big bite! It cut right through the richness and was so, so good, haha.
It had been a while since I had naengsam and it really has a different vibe from regular samgyeopsal. They also grilled kimchi and beansprouts on the pan, which was delicious wrapped up too. The kimchi was perfectly aged and tangy, haha — I love a really sour kimchi and this one was totally that!!! haha

Finishing with truffle jjagyeti, 6,000 won
By the time we'd mostly finished eating, it was time for the carb finale! I was torn between fried rice and truffle jjagyeti (egg soup) — went with the truffle jjagyeti today~~~ Honestly I saw it looking so good at another table and just had to get it, haha.
One bite in and the truffle aroma hit — so delicious~~~! You pop the egg yolk and mix it in for an extra silky texture, haha. This place is a truffle jjagyeti spot for sure! haha
Gyodaepae, located near Gyodae Station in Seoul, was truly a healing kind of BBQ restaurant with a warm, hearty spread of pork belly!
