Changwon Korean BBQ with herbal pork skin and nurungji soup: Anmin

In short

Anmin Jung-dong is an aged-pork Korean BBQ restaurant in Jung-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon, right next to the Jung-dong public parking lot. On a Thursday evening with her husband, the writer ordered the Anmin Whole Pig Half Set (39,500 won for 450g of pork belly, pork neck and herbal pork skin), grilled at the table by staff, and finished with chapssal nurungjitang (sticky rice crust soup) for 3,000 won. With roomy tables, group seating and 2 hours of parking per table, Anmin Jung-dong is a strong pick for a group dinner in Jung-dong, Changwon.

Aged pork neck and pork belly at Anmin Jung-dong

I went back to Anmin Jung-dong — the Changwon spot where my daughter and I fell for the aged pork and herb-marinated pork skin last time — this time with my husband. From the staff grilling everything for us to the juicy pork neck and pork belly to the chewy herb pork skin, I was reminded again that coming back was the right call. This time I added chapssal nurungjitang (crispy rice soup) to the mix for an even more filling meal. Here's my report on Anmin Jung-dong, a Changwon pork BBQ restaurant.

Known as a go-to group dinner spot in Changwon's Jung-dong neighborhood, Anmin Jung-dong is easy to find right next to the Jung-dong public parking lot. It's across from Hansalim Jung-dong.

Parking was a bit of a hassle on my last visit, but this time they offered support through the Jung-dong public parking lot — one car per table, two hours covered, so you can park without stress.

Being right next to a park, the green lawn, Anmin's stone wall, and the floor-to-ceiling windows all come together nicely.

Anmin's signature is definitely the baby pig sign.

The entrance is on the opposite side from the parking lot.

Once you step inside, true to a waitlist-worthy restaurant, there's a Tabling waitlist machine at the entrance, plus a display showing the pork's traceability — reassuring to see.

There's an aging chamber further inside, where Anmin's tender, savory pork is aged to delicious effect.

Thursday evening: seats fill up fast with after-work groups

Anmin Jung-dong's tables are arranged generously along a central corridor, with 4- and 6-person tables, plus a separate private group section further inside.

We visited on a Thursday evening, and once the workday ended, group dinner parties started filing in one after another and seats filled up quickly. I was glad I'd snapped my photos early. The tables are spacious and the layout feels roomy, so I could see exactly why this is such a popular group dinner spot in Jung-dong, Changwon.

Anmin Jung-dong menu and order breakdown

Anmin Jung-dong lets you enjoy a variety of cuts through whole-pig and half-pig sets, plus individual à la carte options, so you can order to taste. The side dishes are a draw too — doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) and sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) are both tasty, the ramen has its own character, and the drunken rice, fried rice, nurungjitang, and steamed egg are all good enough that I'd honestly come back just for the sides.

Just the salts and sauces to go with the meat come to seven kinds, plus green onion kimchi, pickles, kimchi, fresh seasoned vegetables, and lettuce wraps — a generous spread.

The half-pig set and pork neck grilled by staff

The Anmin whole pig half-portion set arrived. The thickness of the meat alone sets it apart, and the pork belly and pork neck look visibly fresh. From start to finish, the staff at Anmin Jung-dong grill everything for you.

The thick pork neck is grilled to nearly steak-level, juicy and tender inside with a savory sear outside — it's satisfying every single time.

They also grill vegetables like green onion and shishito peppers alongside, which are fun to pair with the meat.

Watching the meat sizzle away, I'd find myself zoning out from time to time. No need for conversation with my husband — this moment is all about focusing on the meat!

The sound is great, but the glossy sheen really gets the saliva going.

Served about 90% done, the steak-level pork neck, dipped lightly in salt, bursts with juice at every bite — totally shattering the idea that pork neck is dry. If you come to Anmin, you have to get the pork neck.

That glossy, almost oiled-looking pork neck instantly makes you want a beer!

Doesn't that look like it's calling for a beer? Eating it with a cold one, I could really see why people come here after work or for group dinners.

Rice, meat, grilled vegetables, and green onion kimchi all piled onto lettuce and eaten in one bite — the perfect carb-and-protein combo.

Pork belly and the mini brazier

While we worked on the pork neck, the pork belly grilled away nicely too. The particular richness of pork belly just makes you look forward to it more.

Once the meat and vegetables are fully grilled, they're placed on a mini brazier so everything stays warm until the last bite. The grilled vegetables look amazing.

Once the pork belly is done, you can dig in however you like.

The pork neck is moist and tender, while the pork belly keeps its rich, savory fattiness — fun to alternate between the two.

Why you have to order the herb-marinated pork skin

Last to be grilled is the herb-marinated pork skin, and at Anmin you absolutely have to try it. Aged with herbal medicinal ingredients, it has almost no gamey smell, and you can taste its subtle fragrance and savory flavor clearly without even dipping it in sauce.

Crispy outside, chewy inside — the more you chew, the more savory it gets. Anmin Jung-dong's pork skin is a real recommendation.

Chapssal nurungjitang ordered to finish the meal

Finishing with chapssal nurungjitang, ₩3,000

I was deciding between ordering a jjigae (stew) or chapssal nurungji (crispy rice), and went with the nurungji — and that turned out to be the smart move.

The sticky rice doesn't fall apart too much, stays savory the more you chew, and the hearty nurungji broth is filling enough to count as its own meal — a great way to wrap up after the meat.

My last visit was satisfying enough to bring me back, and it didn't disappoint again. From the staff grilling everything for us to the tender pork neck, savory pork belly, and the herb-marinated pork skin, it was another satisfying meal. With spacious tables and dedicated group seating, I'd recommend Anmin Jung-dong to anyone looking for a group dinner spot in Jung-dong, Changwon, as well as for family meals or evening get-togethers. If you're after a pork BBQ restaurant in Jung-dong, Changwon, give Anmin Jung-dong a try.
