Uichang-gu eel restaurant in Changwon: grilled for you at Daedo Jangeo

In short

Daedo Jangeo is a grilled eel restaurant in Uichang-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam, where every order arrives fully grilled so diners never cook at the table. On a weekday lunch with her parents, the writer ordered the medium seasoned sea eel (50,000 won) and eel soup with rice (4,000 won), and liked the briquette-smoked aroma, the boneless tender flesh and the seasoning that was not too salty. With a dedicated lot right out front and private rooms, Daedo Jangeo suits a restorative family meal or a group gathering.

Today I want to post about Daedo Jangeo, a grilled eel restaurant in Changwon, Gyeongnam that serves every order already cooked! Since you never have to grill the eel yourself, it's known as a hidden local favorite for being so easy — I visited with my parents for a bit of overdue physical recovery food, haha.

Daedo Jangeo has its own dedicated parking lot right in front, so I didn't have to worry about parking at all — and if it happens to be full, the public lot right next door offers 1 hour of support at lunch and 2 hours at dinner, so it's very convenient!

Inside Daedo Jangeo: tables and private group rooms

The first thing I noticed about Daedo Jangeo was how clean and spacious the overall interior was, with neatly set tables throughout,

The seating inside Daedo Jangeo comes in a variety of options, including standard 4-person and 6-person tables,

and on the far left side of the restaurant there's a more private seating area and a room for group use, which looked perfect for company dinners or gatherings,

Since the interior is so spacious, you probably don't need to worry about waiting, but since I visited on a weekday lunch I made a reservation ahead of time just in case!

Daedo Jangeo's weekday lunch-only special is popular for its affordable price and generous portion, but since we wanted to eat plenty of eel, we ordered the medium sea eel seasoned grilling set (₩50,000)!

Side dishes and the self-serve bar

Daedo Jangeo's basic side dishes came out incredibly generously — vegetable salad, young radish kimchi, savory pancake, broccoli, pickled onion, aged kimchi, fresh kimchi, and simmered anchovies,

and if you run out, you can grab more from the self-serve bar, or just ask a staff member for whatever's missing!

How does the medium seasoned sea eel (50,000 won) taste?

We sat chatting for a bit and our order arrived pretty quickly — I'd heard the seasoned version was tastier than the salt-grilled one between the two, so we went with seasoned,

They turned on a mini charcoal brazier to keep the eel hot, so we could eat it warm all the way to the end 🥹🤍

The medium sea eel seasoned grilling is smoked over charcoal for a tender texture, and you eat it together with the onions underneath,

Thanks to the smoking, the eel was full of charcoal aroma with tender, completely boneless flesh, and even though the seasoning on top looked heavy, I worried it might be too salty — but it wasn't salty at all, just the right seasoning, so it was so, so good wrapped in a lettuce leaf or eaten with the other side dishes 🥹🤍

Why the eel soup with rice (4,000 won) is a must

Since we ordered the sea eel seasoned grilling, which was on the saltier side, we additionally ordered the eel soup + rice (₩4,000), and the eel soup was richer than I expected, almost like a premium version of loach soup (chueotang) — having a bite of the seasoned sea eel, then a bite of white rice, then finishing with the eel soup made everything taste clean and balanced. It's really generous for the price too, so I highly recommend ordering it!

Restroom amenities and free coffee after the meal

What I loved most about Daedo Jangeo was that not only was the food delicious, but everything about the place felt clean and thoughtful — the bathroom had floss, cotton swabs, hair ties, toothbrush stain remover, toothpaste, and mouthwash, and there was even candy, glasses-cleaning wipes, and floss at the entrance • •

If you need some summer recovery food but don't have the energy to grill over a hot flame yourself, Daedo Jangeo, where everything comes already grilled, would be a great choice!
