Jeonpo café for Dubai pistachio cream pie and black tea: Hippy

I was in Jeonpo again recently and wanted dessert, so I stopped by Hippy. I'd visited once before and remembered liking the vibe and the desserts, so this time I decided to go back.

Jeonpo has so many pretty cafés, but what I especially liked here was the unique interior with a distinct European feel.

The moment I walked in, the interior was so pretty and the atmosphere so nice that it was great for photos too. Even on a weekday there were quite a lot of customers, which made me think — a popular spot really is different.

What does the Dubai pistachio cream pie taste like?

Hippy specializes in cream pies and crepe roll cakes. There are so many desserts that I spent ages deciding what to get. Last time I had the choco crepe, but this time I wanted to try something new, so I ordered the Dubai pistachio cream pie.

They say the Dubai chocolate craze isn't quite what it used to be, but... Dubai pistachio is still delicious, right? 😂 To cut to the conclusion — it was so good.

You could really taste the distinct nutty flavor of pistachio, and there was a nice bit of crunch from actual pistachio pieces throughout. The cream was soft, and overall the sweet-and-nutty balance worked really well together. I especially enjoyed this one since I'm a fan of pistachio desserts to begin with. It's exactly the flavor you'd want when you're craving something sweet!

Eros vs. Alexander David: how the two black teas differ

Since the dessert was sweet, I picked a clean tea for my drink. Hippy has a fairly wide tea selection compared to other cafés, so there were plenty of options. This time I ordered Eros and Alexander David. They came out faster than I expected.

Eros was relatively rich and deep, while Alexander David was a bit lighter and smoother. Paired with the sweet cream pie, it felt refreshing on the palate, so the combination worked well. Personally, when dessert is on the sweeter side, I think pairing it with tea instead of coffee is a nice move.

Why Hippy is a Jeonpo café worth returning to

Hippy was satisfying again this time! I liked it the first time I visited, and coming back, the atmosphere was still great and the desserts still delicious — I left in a good mood. The Dubai pistachio cream pie in particular, with its crunchy pistachio bits and smooth cream working so well together, is one I'd recommend. If you like sweet desserts, it's worth trying at least once.

Jeonpo has so many cafés that it's often hard to decide where to go, but if you want pretty interiors together with delicious desserts, Hippy seems like a solid choice. It had been a while since my last visit, and I liked it just as much — I'll probably come back the next time I'm in Jeonpo. Next time I'll have to try the other cream pies or crepe roll cakes I haven't gotten to yet!
