Jeongja lamb BBQ for a kid-free date night, shoulder rack: Yangmadam

Today I'm writing about a Jeongja lamb favorite, Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb, Bundang Direct Branch (양마담 방촌양고기 분당직영점) :)

For once we went without the kid, just my wife and me, for a cozy date. This is my honest review of Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb, a lamb specialist in the Jeongja food alley in Bundang. Instead of the usual lamb skewers, we got to try refined, rarer lamb dishes, and we were totally satisfied!

What does Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb look like from outside?

Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb sits inside the Jeongja food alley, and its clean, upscale exterior stands out the moment you arrive. The sleek, modern signboard made me wonder, "What kind of great food are they going to serve?" before we even went in. Everything is neatly kept, so it gives a polished first impression, good for a date or for bringing your parents or someone special.

Atmosphere and seating at Yangmadam: good for dates and groups

Inside, the restaurant is decorated with soft warm-toned lighting and tidy wood-toned tables. The moment we walked in, it felt comfortable and cozy.

There are plenty of tables and the space is clean, so it's great for enjoying a meal and the mood! The roomy tables suit a quiet date like ours, and there is proper group seating too, so I thought it would work well for company dinners, year-end gatherings, or wedding-invitation get-togethers.

What's on the menu, and which side dishes come with it?

The menu is easy to browse on the kiosk set up at every table.

From suyuk (boiled meat) to grilled shoulder rack and barbecue, there were lots of varied, rare lamb dishes you can't usually find at an ordinary lamb skewer place, so choosing was half the fun! 💚

The rare menu lineup made it feel like a special night out. By the way, a Cloud beer event was running when we visited, so if you fancy the pretty Cloud glass, try joining the review event! The side dishes were napa cabbage kimchi, peanuts that go nicely with beer, and four dipping sauces made for the shoulder rack, all neatly set out.

How good is the shoulder rack lamb rib couple set for 2 (68,000 won)?

What we ordered was the shoulder rack lamb ribs couple set for 2 at ₩68,000. The main shoulder rack comes pre-seared, and a staff member torches it at the table to add a smoky aroma. That little show alone gave off real top-restaurant vibes!

One bite and it melted in my mouth, tender and with none of that typical lamb gaminess, like eating a high-end steak. Wow~~ is this a 5-star hotel?! The flavor was that rich, I was genuinely shocked. Yep, a true Jeongja gem!!! T_T

Dipped in the house Bangchon sauce or the lamb skewer seasoning, it seemed like it would pair really well with wine. Gnawing it off the bone was fun, and dipping nachos in the sauce between bites was a treat too. 💛♥️

It was so good that the beer kept going down!

Mandu gangjeong (glazed dumplings): crispy outside, moist inside

After a good while on the shoulder rack, the mandu gangjeong came out~ I think it's the textbook example of crispy outside, juicy inside!

Dip, eat, dip, eat, just the way we liked it T_T Wow~ maybe because it's the shoulder rack set, they were plump and really delicious!!! Definitely order them haha

Spicy lamb hangover hotpot: a hearty, restorative finish

The spicy lamb hotpot that came last had a deep, rich, restorative feel like goat soup or gamjatang (pork bone stew), and it gave us a real energy boost!

It was packed with lamb, and the broth was so good that my wife kept praising it. We left stuffed to the brim.

Is there parking at Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb?

You can park for 2 hours in the underground car park of Jellzon Tower 2, where the restaurant is. Parking is a big deal in the crowded Jeongja alleys! Just a heads-up~~

Verdict: a lamb date night for couples near Jeongja Station

From the tender, torch-smoked shoulder rack to the restorative hotpot, Yangmadam Bangchon Lamb was the best lamb dining spot for a date with a glass of wine near Jeongja Station. 5 stars! Full marks~
