Gwanggyo cake café to go: fig cream cake eaten in the car, Café Diaz

In short

Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo is a cake café inside GOURMET 494, the food hall on basement level 1 of Galleria Gwanggyo in Suwon, Gyeonggi. The writer bought the new fig cream cake slice, an iced Americano and a chocolate latte to go, and couldn't wait until home, eating the fig cake in the car. Café Diaz's fig cream cake isn't cheap, but the amount of fig and the quality make it worth the price.

If you ask me for my all-time favorite cake shop, it's Café Diaz, no contest! I'm so glad there's a branch in Galleria Gwanggyo too, haha. I heard they just released a fig cake that's trending right now and I couldn't hold back — went straight over! If you're looking for a Gwanggyo café or a Suwon café, I really want to recommend this one ❤️

Where is Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo?

It's close to Gwanggyojungang Station, and you can use the department store parking too, so driving there isn't a burden at all. It's also a great spot to stop by when you're looking for a cake shop near Suwon Convention Center!

Honestly everything looked delicious so I stood there debating for a while, haha. If you go with kids, letting them pick their own would probably make them happy too.

Birthday party supplies and whole cake reservations at Café Diaz

Next to the register there are number candles (₩1,500 each), cute character candles, party hats, and even birthday headbands, so you don't need to gather party supplies separately when buying a birthday cake. Whole cakes can be reserved too, so it's a relief to order ahead for anniversaries.

I bought a cake slice, and the packaging box had a handle attached, so it was easy to carry around too!

How do Café Diaz's iced Americano and chocolate latte taste?

Café Diaz's iced Americano was clean with no bitterness, perfect to pair with cake. The chocolate latte was rich and sweet — the kind of drink that instantly recharges you when your sugar drops, haha. The pink-striped cup holder with a bunny drawn on it was also so cute ><

Café Diaz fig cream cake, eaten right in the car

Today's star is Café Diaz's fig cream cake slice! On the way home with it packed up, just looking at the box got me excited and I wanted to eat it so badly that I just ate it in the car, haha.

Fig cream cake slice piled high with figs

The moment I opened the lid, figs were piled up so high that I let out a 'wow!!' involuntarily.

Cross-section of the cake showing figs between the layers

Looking at the cross-section, figs are packed in between the sponge layers too. One bite, fig,

another bite, fig — it's completely a fig loop, haha.

Slice of cream cake topped with moist figs

The figs were fresh and moist with a nice bouncy bite that I really loved! So sweet and delicious ㅠ_ㅠ

Fig cream cake paired with an iced Americano

Probably because it's dairy cream, it's light and smooth without any greasiness. The cake itself isn't very sweet, so the fig's subtle sweetness comes through even more — that's the highlight!👍 Paired with the iced Americano, the combination was just perfect~!

Is Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo worth the price?

Café Diaz's cakes aren't exactly cheap, but considering the amount and quality of fruit, they're worth every won. I'll have to come back to reserve the Fig Mongttang whole cake for the next anniversary. If you're looking for cake in Gwanggyo, I really hope you try Café Diaz at least once!
