Today's star is malatang (spicy Sichuan-style hot pot soup)! Come to think of it, I don't think I've shown you malatang before, that kind of feeling, you know? o_o So which malatang place is the first one I'm showing you?

It's Rahongbang Malatang Suwon Cheoncheon Branch in Cheoncheon-dong, Suwon :) Wait, why do I feel like this is my first time with Rahongbang Malatang 😅

The main dishes are malatang, mala xiang guo (stir-fried mala), guobaorou, and egg fried rice, and apparently TV personalities have eaten at Rahongbang too 😎
What's the inside like, and is it OK for eating alone?

The inside is a decent size, with seats in a single row along both sides, so I think it works well for solo diners too. When I first walked in there was only one group, but more and more people came in 😮 Families, solo eaters, all kinds!
How does the self-checkout work?

Here a staff member doesn't ring you up. You weigh your ingredients yourself, pick your menu, and pay on your own~ I'd never seen a malatang place like this, so it felt kind of novel 🤣
The fridge next to the self-checkout has water, cups, drinks, and alcohol (Yantai gaoliang liquor, iced black tea, etc.), also self-serve, and there's peanut sauce too 🥜
What's on the menu, and what's the minimum order for malatang?

Of course the main menu item is malatang, and there are also the items below! There are also guides on how to enjoy malatang and mala xiang guo and on spice levels, so have a look :D
- Garlic guobaorou, guobaorou
- Garlic mini guobaorou, mini guobaorou, single-serving guobaorou
- Lemon cream shrimp, single-serving lemon cream shrimp
- Shrimp egg fried rice, egg fried rice, plain rice

The minimum order for malatang has gone up to ₩8,000, which means 364g. For takeout the minimum is ₩10,000, which is 455g 🙂
What's at the self-serve corner?

Inside Rahongbang Malatang Suwon Cheoncheon Branch, the baskets, aprons, and ingredients are neatly arranged, and it was so nice to look at~

The peanut sauce is in the fridge, as I mentioned above, and there are other sauces too, haha. The basic side dish is pickled radish (danmuji), and next to it are tongs, scissors, spoons and chopsticks, kids' spoons and forks, small plates, and round bowls, so take whatever you need~
For meat there's beef and lamb. I eat lamb too, but for malatang or mala xiang guo I always seem to go with beef 😂 Put the meat, skewers, and all your ingredients in the basket 🧺
How many malatang ingredients does Rahongbang offer?

I was surprised 😳 The malatang ingredients at Rahongbang Malatang Suwon Cheoncheon Branch are so neat and well kept! You can tell just from the photos! Also, meat and skewers are charged by weight with no extra fee (is that better? hmm).

How do the two-portion bowl of malatang, shrimp egg fried rice, and mini guobaorou taste?

Here are the pickled radish, bowls, spoons, and chopsticks I grabbed from the self-serve corner, and since I ordered guobaorou too, I brought scissors and tongs ✂️

The malatang (price depends on weight) came out first! Maybe because it had been a while since I last had malatang, the moment I saw it I got so excited 😍
We each put in whatever we wanted to eat, and the amount is overflowing, just overflowing 🤣 Well, it's two portions in one bowl, after all, haha

Watermelon bunmoja, panda bunmoja

Shrimp egg fried rice (₩9,000), sooo yummy

Mini guobaorou (₩12,000), so tasty

Hahahahahaha wait, look at that color
