Café on Chaekhyanggisup-gil, Paju for fresh lemonade: Paun Coffee
In short
Paun Coffee Gyoha (파운커피 교하점) is a salt bread bakery café on Chaekhyanggisup-gil in Gyoha, Paju, and the second Paun Coffee branch after Unjeong. On an early weekend morning, the writer had a flat white, fresh lemonade and a mocha bun (streusel) salt bread at Paun Coffee Gyoha; salt bread comes out in batches from 10:30 a.m., so there was less choice early on. With tree views through its big windows and a fresh lemonade better than expected, Paun Coffee Gyoha is a good café for a sunny morning.

Paun Coffee Gyoha: an Unjeong salt bread café for a weekend morning coffee
Paun Coffee Gyoha branch (파운커피 교하점) is a café on Chaekhyanggisup-gil in Gyoha, Paju. People come for morning coffee, and it's also popular as an Unjeong salt bread favorite. I stopped in on a weekend morning last week while on my way to buy kongguk (cold soy milk noodle soup).

I'd been to the first Paun Coffee branch in Unjeong, and it turns out there's a Gyoha branch too!!

Maybe it was the sunny weather, but this visit felt extra good. It was early in the morning, so not all the bread was out yet, but I came for a morning coffee anyway.
Paun Coffee Gyoha sits on Chaekhyanggisup-gil. It's a neighborhood of book cafés and publishing houses, so it feels quieter and more secluded.

What time does the salt bread come out at Paun Coffee Gyoha?
Salt bread at Paun Coffee Gyoha comes out in batches starting at 10:30 a.m. The Unjeong branch is famous for its salt bread too, so I'd planned to try it here, but I came so early that there wasn't much bread 🥹 I asked, and that's what they told me.

Paun Coffee Gyoha atmosphere: big windows and a view of trees
Paun Coffee Gyoha has a simple look, but the bright floor-to-ceiling windows give it a lovely open feel, and with trees right outside it feels so fresh and green.
Look at those windows!! So clear, right? I bet it's atmospheric when it snows, too.

My early-morning bread pick: mocha bun salt bread
Early in the morning at Paun Coffee Gyoha, I only looked at what had already come out, and luckily the mocha bun salt bread was there! I picked that one quickly.

Paun Coffee Gyoha also sells gift packaging boxes, and I thought they'd be good to bring to a meeting with a publisher..🥸 Then again, the publishers nearby probably have lunch and grab a coffee here all the time, so they might be used to it already? haha

Paun Coffee Gyoha drink prices and what I ordered
An Americano at Paun Coffee Gyoha is a friendly ₩4,500. But it was morning, so I was craving something latte-like and ordered a flat white and a lemonade, then waited. The space has a special, comfortable feel to it.
Fresh lemonade: I didn't expect much, but wow
Oh.. Paun Coffee Gyoha is a lemonade place. I had no expectations, so why is this lemonade so good? It was a fresh lemonade with no artificial sweetness, just nicely sweet.

The flat white has a balanced acidity
The flat white at Paun Coffee Gyoha has just the right amount of acidity, so I think it would suit coffee lovers who like acidic coffee. I like a flat white made with slightly acidic beans, and this was a textbook flat white.

The streusel salt bread is a treat too
And the streusel (sobolu) salt bread! I was so sad I couldn't get the pollock roe (myeongran) salt bread, but this one is a treat too. If this is so good, the other flavors must be amazing.. Next time I'll definitely try the pollock roe salt bread 🥹🧡

Paun Coffee Gyoha, a publishing-district café for a sunny day
Paun Coffee Gyoha, a Paju publishing-district café that was perfect to drop into on a warm, sunny day, goes onto my list of great Unjeong-area cafés too 🤎
The story of the second branch, as told by Paun Coffee
