Hair that goes flat fast: a root perm at a Ttukseom Station hair salon

I went to Toni&Guy Seongsu (토니앤가이 성수점), a hair salon near Ttukseom Station, for a root perm, a fringe perm and a cut. The volume at my crown and fringe dies really quickly ,,🥹 By the afternoon my hair is stuck flat to my scalp, so a root perm and fringe perm every 3 months are a must!

Toni&Guy Seongsu is right in front of Ttukseom Station on Line 2, so it's super easy to reach. It would also make a great first stop on a day out in Seongsu :)

Toni&Guy Seongsu is at 35 Sangwon 1-gil, floors 2–3, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and is open 11:00–20:00 on weekdays and 10:00–19:00 on weekends. It's closed every Monday.

There's no parking at the salon, so I used the Seongsu Culture and Welfare Center public parking lot! It's a 3-minute walk, so very close 💗

Go straight to the floor where your designer is

At Toni&Guy Seongsu you just go straight to whichever floor, 2nd or 3rd, your booked designer is on! I booked designer Sangyeon, so I headed to the 3rd floor :) The interior is so clean that I was in a good mood even before the consultation ~ 🌿

Designer Sangyeon apparently has a reputation for being great at layered perms ,, There were lots of other customers when I visited, and I was impressed by how carefully she looked after each one. That day I decided to get a root + fringe perm plus a cut!

A detox clinic comes standard with a heat perm

At Toni&Guy Seongsu, a detox clinic is included as standard when you get a heat perm. It's a stretch where the shampoo is left on to draw out the unhelpful ingredients! Thanks to that I got to lie back and relax. The interns have really good hands 🫶

Cut first, then root and fringe perm at the back seats

After the cut at my seat, I moved to a seat further inside and the perm properly began. If you're getting color or a perm, bring something to work on!! The table and chair were so comfy that I was a little sad I didn't have my laptop haha

And Sangyeon is really meticulous :) She did a thorough consultation, so the cut came out just how I wanted.

The touching part: she permed my face-framing strands too

There was no mirror in front of me, so I only saw it after everything was rolled up, and she had curled my face-framing strands (aegyo-meori, the short wisps by the cheeks) so prettily too??? I'd asked her to leave some of those strands out when cutting, and she even put a perm in them, which really touched me ,,

She was also good at small talk, lol, so I picked up lots of hair tips. She looked after me so carefully that this is a Ttukseom Station hair salon I want to come back to!

Drinks and snacks at Toni&Guy Seongsu

Toni&Guy Seongsu also offered drinks while I had my hair done. The menu is great: Americano and iced tea, plus rooibos, peppermint, chamomile, green tea and sweet orange juice! I'm quitting coffee ,, so tea again today, sob

They also brought snacks and chocolate, and you all know how good Bouchard mint chocolate is, right? 😍

They also did the neutralizing step carefully, right at my seat. The atmosphere is quiet overall, so it was comfortable while my hair was being done :-)

If you use an Airwrap, tell them at the cut

If you usually style with an Airwrap, it's best to mention it during the cut consultation. I normally style my hair with an Airwrap, and if there are too many layers it just won't hold 🥹 When you tell them this, they take it into account when cutting, so describe the style you want in as much detail as you can.

With the damaged ends cut off, my hair looks much neater!

How long do a root perm, fringe perm and cut take?

That day, shampoo - cut - root/fringe perm - rinse - blow-dry took a generous 2 hours :) If you tell them when you need to leave, they'll work around it, but you'll be happier if you visit with time to spare.

Anyway! My hair grows super fast, so I had my fringe trimmed a little short haha and tidied it once more at the end. It's a look I absolutely love 💗

The price list was transparent too, which I liked. I'm leaving Toni&Guy Seongsu, a Ttukseom Station hair salon, feeling properly refreshed ~ 🍀
