Euljiro restaurant: charcoal octopus and tomato basil ice cream at Pyu

Pyu Euljiro is a contemporary dining restaurant near Exit 9 of Euljiro 3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul, set in a white-toned room filled with flowers and plants. At Pyu Euljiro, the share set comes out like a course: fresh salad, bisque pasta, charcoal-grilled octopus with romesco, crispy fried eggplant and a seasonal tomato basil ice cream, paired here with a Neomsabyeok IPA. Chungmuro beer pub: peanut butter stout and truffle fries at Boah Boah

Boah Boah is a casual craft beer pub in a basement right at Exit 7 of Chungmuro Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. On an evening visit, the writer drank a Peanut Butter Stout and a Lager After All alongside truffle french fries and chili-loaded yuringi (fried chicken in a tangy soy sauce). Boah Boah is a good spot in Chungmuro for a cold craft beer, and the chili-loaded yuringi is especially memorable.

Chicken breast keto gimbap with soy mayo in Euljiro 3-ga: 29 Tamago

29 Tamago Euljiro Branch is a keto gimbap (seaweed roll) wellness restaurant on the 2nd floor above Mega Coffee at the Euljiro intersection, near Euljiro 3-ga Station in Seoul. The writer, who is maintaining a diet, sat at a bar seat overlooking the Euljiro intersection and had 29 Tamago's keto chicken breast gimbap dipped in soy mayo sauce with apple-carrot broth tteokbokki (rice cakes in broth) for lunch, then took home fried tofu-packed gimbap and keto crab stick gimbap for dinner. Even without rice, the keto gimbap at 29 Tamago is very filling, making it a good fit for anyone looking for a light, healthy meal.

Ondoon Chungmuro Main Branch is a Japanese-style tonkatsu and noodle restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Hoeseongdaek building near Chungmuro Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. A self-declared makguksu (buckwheat noodle) fanatic ordered the loin & cheese half-and-half katsu, cold soba (naengmomil) and Ondoon's seaweed makguksu (gim makguksu), and called the perilla oil seaweed makguksu with seasoned minari (water dropwort) a taste found nowhere else. Verdict: at Ondoon Chungmuro Main Branch, the seaweed makguksu is a must-order.

Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) snack bar near Samgakji Station and Yongridan-gil in Yongsan, Seoul, where you can choose brothy tteokbokki or instant tteokbokki. On a weekday lunch the writer ordered the Hyeonseonine combo set at medium spice, with sundae (Korean blood sausage), mini gimbap, assorted fritters and fish cake, and enjoyed tucking rice cakes into the squid fritter batter and dipping lung and gimbap in the tteokbokki broth. Thanks to the thick, sweet-and-spicy broth, every side at Hyeonseonine tasted great dipped in it.
