Haeundae hotel restaurant with abalone rice pot dinner: Crab Peak

In short

Crab Peak is a snow crab, king crab and lobster restaurant on the 2nd floor of L7 Haeundae by Lotte Hotel in Busan. Arriving right at dinner opening, we ordered abalone porridge, abalone rice pot and daebbang ramyeon (spicy, king-size ramyeon topped with snow crab) as one full spread, with no table setting fee, in a gray-and-black lounge-like room. Crab Peak suits a dinner date and works just as well for a special meal with parents.

We went out to Guam-ro in Haeundae and heard there was a fancy king crab restaurant nearby, so we stopped by Crab Peak for a date :) This time we ended up eating a full spread — abalone porridge, abalone rice pot, and crab ramyeon!

On weekends I'd recommend booking your preferred time slot in advance through Naver Place before you go~ We chose the open hall over the private room, and thanks to the reservation we got seated right away without waiting. Booking ahead made things so much easier haha.

Crab Peak, a Haeundae hotel restaurant — enjoy abalone rice pot in an upscale setting

Entrance to Crab Peak on the 2nd floor of L7 Haeundae by Lotte Hotel

Crab Peak is located on the 2nd floor of L7 Haeundae by Lotte Hotel! I was looking around after entering the hotel trying to find the restaurant, but there was a directional sign right in front of me, so I followed it and found the place quickly~~

Inside Crab Peak: hall seating and private rooms

Gray-and-black toned interior of Crab Peak's dining hall
Crab Peak's group reservation table already set

We came for an early dinner, and maybe because of the group reservation seating, the tables were already set neatly! There's also a separate private room for those who want more privacy, so keep that in mind when booking.

The overall interior is done in gray and black tones, giving off a calm yet upscale feel~ True to a hotel restaurant, the inside felt like a lounge — elegant and really clean. It's a relaxed atmosphere that would work well for a blind date, a date, a family gathering, or even a meeting between families :)

Widely spaced table seating at Crab Peak

The tables were spaced well apart, making the meal comfortable and giving a private feel.

Large fish tank at Crab Peak's entrance

At the entrance, true to a restaurant known for premium lobster, king crab and snow crab, there was a huge fish tank full of seafood. Sea squirts and abalone caught my eye too 🤍 The tank was clean and well maintained.

Crab Peak's menu and why there is no table setting fee

Crab Peak menu board listing king crab and snow crab

This is Crab Peak's signature menu board. Along with king crab, snow crab and lobster, they also offer three crab dishes — chili crab, black pepper crab, and coral crab — plus hearty rice dishes like abalone porridge, abalone rice pot, sea squirt rice pot, and sea squirt porridge. 😋

Most crab restaurants charge a separate table setting fee, but Crab Peak doesn't have one! There's no extra cost on top of the menu prices, which felt clean and pressure-free :)

Tablet for ordering placed on the table at Crab Peak

Every table has a tablet, so we could look at menu photos and order comfortably right there~! King crab and snow crab can be ordered by the kg according to headcount, and there are set menu options too, so there's a lot of variety to choose from!

For extra dishes, there was daebbang ramyeon (king-size ramyeon) with snow crab, and pumpkin soup. After some back and forth, we ordered

  • Daebbang ramyeon
  • Abalone porridge
  • Abalone rice pot

.

Daebbang ramyeon comes in spicy or mild, and we went with spicy! Despite being labeled spicy, it wasn't that intense — slightly milder than Shin Ramyun — so even people who aren't great with spicy food could probably handle it fine.

How did the abalone porridge, abalone rice pot and daebbang ramyeon taste?

Full spread of abalone porridge, abalone rice pot and daebbang ramyeon

It all came out on elegant tableware as a full spread — daebbang ramyeon piled high with crab, plus abalone rice pot and abalone porridge, all generously served.

Crab Peak's abalone porridge topped with scallions and abalone

Look at this abalone porridge made with carefully selected top-grade abalone from Wando! Chopped scallions were sprinkled on top, and the abalone had pretty crosshatch cuts, plated as neatly as a formal course. Seeing so much soft-looking abalone piled in made it even more appetizing.

Salad drizzled with yuzu dressing

A salad to whet the appetite. It had a subtle drizzle of yuzu dressing, giving it a refreshing, bright flavor.

Chopped scallions sprinkled on top made it look even more appetizing, and the abalone had pretty crosshatch cuts. It looked soft just from the appearance, and after one spoonful, the chewy texture of the abalone blended nicely with the rich, savory vegetable-porridge flavor — really good.

The abalone rice pot came topped with savory abalone piled generously — it looked like a filling meal just from appearance. The warm rice pot had the abalone's flavor subtly soaked in, and it got more savory with each spoonful.

Personally I usually prefer abalone in porridge form, but tasting this abalone rice pot changed my mind a bit! The warm rice combined with the abalone's savory flavor was light yet full of umami. Especially since it's a rice pot, the texture of the individual grains stayed intact, giving it a different charm from the porridge.

Scooping up a spoonful of glossy abalone porridge

Finished a bowl of the abalone porridge. So glossy.

Daebbang ramyeon (spicy) with snow crab

Daebbang ramyeon (spicy)

True to its name, daebbang ramyeon is a seafood ramyeon topped with a whole large snow crab. It looked hearty just from the visuals, and the deep, clean flavor of crab and shrimp added to the broth made it both spicy and full of umami.

Slurped it down with some aged kimchi.

Lifting a bundle of ramyeon noodles

The abalone rice pot's grains were really fluffy and well seasoned, so full of flavor. I'd overeaten at lunch and was already pretty full, but I kept reaching for more and ended up finishing it..😋

A spoonful of fluffy abalone rice pot

I love nabak kimchi (watery radish kimchi), and eating it with the abalone porridge was such a perfect match! The light, savory porridge combined with the refreshing tang of the nabak kimchi really brought out the flavor.

The abalone rice pot came with dried laver and soy sauce on the side, nice to add according to taste. Wrapping the fluffy rice in laver with a touch of soy sauce dip made it even more savory haha.

Fried tofu-skin dumplings

Both the abalone rice pot and abalone porridge came in generous portions, and being able to have such a filling meal in this upscale setting was even more satisfying. Everything was plated so cleanly and neatly that it would be great for bringing your parents or celebrating a special occasion.

Fried tofu-skin dumplings also came out — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, a nice little treat. You could taste the light, savory tofu, which paired well with the abalone dishes too! We dipped them lightly in soy sauce. Crispy outside, moist inside — a nice way to finish off the meal.

When Crab Peak is worth booking

Overall, Crab Peak was satisfying from start to finish — the abalone rice pot, abalone porridge, and daebbang ramyeon were all neat and generously portioned. Being able to eat comfortably in such an upscale hotel atmosphere makes it great for a date, but also for a meal with parents or a special occasion. If you're looking for a satisfying, delicious meal in a nice-atmosphere spot in Haeundae, I'd recommend Crab Peak :)
